Its such an honour and joy to write this tribute editorial on Sir Nicholas Harold Lloyd Ridley which is out in the November 2024 issue of JCRS Journal. I had the unique opportunity and privilege to meet him and his wife and spend a day with them in their cottage in Stapelford, Salisbury, England. He single handedly changed the course of cataract surgery with the invention of IOL 75 years ago. Very few in history have lived long enough or been in a position to reap the benefits of their own invention. Ridley was one such. On the 27th 28th Nov 2024 during the annual meeting of the UKISCRS Society Manager Gill Williams we will be celebrating and paying tribute to this achievement with all our International Guests. As a mark of recognition the JCRS Journal has his picture on the cover page for the November 2024 issue.
