Following the rest of the Penn district renovations, Penn 1 has been entirely transformed to compete in the class A office building market. The building's façade, lobby, outdoor space and more have all been updated to attract new potential leasing opportunities. This also included the building's mechanical systems and that is where JDP comes in. We were tasked with refurbishing the cooling tower, which was original to the building from 1972. With the help of Atlantic Cooling, we completely rebuilt the tower’s internal workings and installed all new condenser water piping. A new sand filtration system was also installed. Altogether, these upgrades have helped the tower run much more efficiently, helping keep the tenants of Penn 1 cooler on those hot NYC days. 😎
