𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐩: 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘯𝘥-𝘰𝘧-𝘚𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘌𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘦𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸𝘴 Now that end of summer came and went, and the end of 2024 fast approaches, it's the perfect time to conduct end-of-season employee reviews. These evaluations are invaluable for fostering growth and aligning team goals with organizational objectives. If your facility hasn’t implemented regular employee reviews, now is the time to start. Here are four compelling reasons to prioritize this essential practice: 1. 𝐅𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 As leaders, providing timely feedback—both positive and constructive—is crucial. However, it’s easy for important points to slip through the cracks during busy seasons. Employee reviews serve as an opportunity to acknowledge accomplishments while also addressing areas for improvement. Documenting these discussions creates a clear record, ensuring that everyone is on the same page moving forward. This clarity can be particularly useful for future reference and ongoing development. 2. 𝐆𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 The feedback you provide should align with your facility’s mission and values. Employee reviews are an excellent opportunity to reinforce the significance of individual contributions. By discussing how each team member’s work ethic impacts the organization, you can inspire them to exceed expectations and understand the “why” behind their roles. This alignment not only strengthens the team culture but also drives collective success. 3. 𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬 Reviews should go beyond mere evaluations; they should include goal-setting for the future. Use this time to outline specific objectives that you’d like your team members to achieve. By doing so, you help them develop their skills and boost their confidence. You may even be coaching the next leader in the aquatic industry! That’s how big of an impact you can be having with these reviews! 4. 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Employee reviews create a safe space for dialogue, allowing team members to voice their thoughts, insights, and aspirations. This open communication fosters trust and demonstrates your commitment to supporting their growth. By actively listening to their feedback, you can identify potential improvements within the team and enhance overall morale. In conclusion, end-of-season employee reviews are more than just a formal requirement; they are an essential tool for professional development, cultural alignment, goal-setting, and open communication. By embracing this practice, you not only invest in your team members’ growth but also contribute to the long-term success of your organization. #JeffEllisManagement #AquaticProfessionals #AquaticManagerTips #tipsfromthetop #managertips

🌟𝗝𝗘𝗠 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 - 𝗞𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗽🌟 𝗝𝗘𝗠: Tell us how you got started in aquatics. 𝗞𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: While it may be cliche, I decided to apply for a lifeguarding position at the Gaylord Texan back in 2020 just to have a fun summer job with my friends. I had no idea that I would quickly fall in love with the industry and develop the passion for aquatics that I have today. I returned in the summer of 2021 as a supervisor and worked my way up to an assistant manager role within a couple of months. At the end of my first season as an assistant manager, I took on a full-time role with the company and have been here ever since! I now serve as one of the operations managers at the Gaylord Texan. 𝗝𝗘𝗠: What is one of your favorite accomplishments? 𝗞𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Out of all the opportunities I have had with JEM, I think my favorite accomplishment would be helping train a new assistant manager at the Gaylord Texan. I love developing new leaders, and had always looked forward to the day that I could pass on my skillset and knowledge to someone taking on my old role. Seeing him become proficient and more confident in himself as he advances through his training has been very rewarding to say the least. 𝗝𝗘𝗠: Who are your mentors, and why? 𝗞𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: My main mentor with JEM is Cassy Samples. She was my manager for four summers at the Texan and taught me everything I know. Not only, did she teach me how to manage, but she taught me how to lead in a fair and calm way. I appreciate her allowing me to make mistakes and learn/grow from them, and utilize this same method when training new leaders at our facility now. 𝗝𝗘𝗠: What do you like to do for fun? 𝗞𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: When I’m not at work, I spend a lot of my time outdoors, whether that be hiking, swimming, or just having a picnic in the park. I also attend a lot of concerts, and have recently gotten into rock climbing/bouldering. If I am spending a night in, you will usually find me reading poetry books or playing board games with my friends/family.
