In the first blog post of the semester, Staff Writer Justin Aglow (’26) explores the ongoing breach of contract dispute between Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) and Turner Broadcasting System (TBS), and the NBA over broadcasting rights for professional basketball games after the NBA signed a $77 billion contract with Amazon Prime Video, NBC, and Disney for streaming rights to NBA games. Ultimately, Justin considers the potential legal ramifications that the WBD-TBS lawsuit may have on breach of contract cases in the context of offer matching provisions and “mirror-image” offers where the nature of the competing business models precludes a direct, identical contract match.
