In 1960, Jeg Coughlin Sr. opened JEGS High Performance as a solution to the struggle of finding quality parts for hot rods. He quickly became the go-to guy for high-performance parts in Central Ohio and went from building and tweaking engines for his buddies to a full-fledged retail business. In the late 1980s, Jeg's four sons, John, Troy, Mike, and Jeg Jr., purchased the business and spent years growing and expanding the company to reach as many racers and car enthusiasts as possible. The Coughlin family was dedicated to their work as they were racers themselves collecting a slew of NHRA World Championships, Divisional Championships, National Event victories, and many other successes across the sport making them one of the most successful families in drag racing history.
In 2022, Greenbriar Equity Group became an investment partner that is dedicated to making JEGS the leading online national retailer and distributor of high-performance aftermarket auto parts and accessories by focusing on product and market expansion while enhancing technology and distribution capabilities. Today, JEGS offers its significant base of automotive enthusiast customers more than two million product SKUs from over 800 vendors through its online website and fulfillment center near Columbus, Ohio. All employees, including many members of the Coughlin family, still strongly believe and practice our simple business philosophy: Customer Care is #1.
