I’m excited to share that for the first time in over 60 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters was just recognized by Congress in a resolution commending the impact of our mission and celebrating our legacy of 120 years. Over the last two years, our mission has worked intentionally to unite our advocacy voices in Washington DC, and this resolution is another example of our continued work together with Congress to directly contribute to the young people across our country. This incredible honor would not have been possible without the leadership of Senators Hassan (D-NH) and Young (R-IN) in the U.S. Senate, Representatives Amodei (R-NV) and Scanlon (D-PA) in the U.S. House and all our bipartisan co-sponsors. And of course, big ups to our agency leaders across the country who reached out to their members of Congress in partnership with our Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Government Relations team. Together, we are reinforcing the crucial role of mentorship in supporting and empowering young people across communities. To read the full resolution and learn more, click below to visit our website.

In 5 days, I step into the role of CEO at Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Boston. I have been reflecting on the importance of leadership and transition. In the words of Hamilton, “One last time... we’ll teach them how to say goodbye.” For anyone who knows Jeffrey Savit, our current CEO and a huge theater fan, it’s fitting that these lyrics capture what makes this moment important. It takes real leadership to be able to step back from an organization that you love—and that loves you—to make room for new leadership. Jeffrey has not only led with vision and dedication, but he’s also taught me what it means to pass the torch gracefully. His passion for JBBBS and his commitment to our mission will continue to inspire me as I move forward in this role. I am deeply grateful for everything I have learned from Jeffrey. He has been a true mentor and friend. I am honored to step into his BIG shoes and to build on what he has done. Thank you, Jeffrey, for showing us all what it truly means to lead. #mentorshipmatters #jewishnonprofit

Despite poor weather conditions, Team JBBBS had a phenomenal showing at this year’s Rodman for Kids in Foxboro last weekend where 31 riders gathered to ride 25 or 50 miles with hundreds of others. Together, the riders have raised more than $100,000 to support JBBBS’ programs, but it’s not too late to support the Team and help us raise critical funds for our programs. Thank you to Team JBBBS and all who have already supported us. To continue to support the team, visit https://lnkd.in/dYvUAhW

Last week the JBBBS staff took some big steps in our new strategic planning process. Staff took part in a staff retreat that focused on what we can do to enhance our use of Jewish values and guide our organization into a more focused direction moving forward. #JBBBS #JewishValues
