Author Elena Aguilar identifies six core human needs in her most recent book, "Arise: The Art of Transformational Coaching." Her list closely parallel's JEIC's list of the six pillars of intrinsic motivation. Her focus is on educator training, making the classroom teacher her "end user." But is that the right focus... especially in the field of Jewish education? JEIC Founding Director, Rabbi Shmuel Feld, offers his insights in our latest JEIC blog post. https://lnkd.in/efAB2BuC

Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks zt”l famously taught that, "To defend a country you need an army. But to defend a free society you need schools…So Jews became the people whose passion was education, whose citadels were schools and whose heroes were teachers." But if teachers are our heroes, then we must ask: Are we supporting and investing in them sufficiently? Inspired by Rabbi Sacks' teachings in Bible and Parashat Hashavua, the Torah V’Chochmah program brings together world class content and ideas from Rabbi Sacks along with scholars in the fields of Bible and Jewish thought, and provides mentorship and support as teachers implement these curricula in their classrooms. This initiative is supported by a grant from UnitEd and in partnership with the The The Lookstein Center for Jewish Education Global/Herzog College–all funding and/or operational partners of JEIC. In addition, Torah V'Chochmah partnered with Rosov Consulting to provide more granular insight into the impact of this unique program. https://lnkd.in/e2NuDPXz The Rabbi Sacks Legacy
