  • That's a wrap on an exceptional Masters Events conference in Oxford! Thank you to everyone who contributed to its success, especially the Masters Events Team and our Dr. James Flowers, PhD, CSAT, LPC-S, Claudia Schwarz, and Farideh Banafshei! Dr. James Flowers delivered a compelling keynote address to an audience of 750 attendees, underscoring our commitment at J. Flowers Health Institute to compassionate, holistic care that considers the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of a whole person. A standout moment was our Bloo Bite Challenge, where attendees enjoyed a Bloo cookie and tracked their gut-transit time until they saw "Bloo in the Loo." This activity brought a touch of fun to meaningful discussions about the crucial link between gut health and overall well-being. Looking forward to next year! #MastersSeries2024 #MentalHealth #Leadership

  • We remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and those impacted in the years since—the over 6,300 courageous responders and survivors who have died from 9/11-related illnesses, as well as the tens of thousands diagnosed with physical and mental health conditions. We also honor the incredible individuals who stepped up in this crisis, offering support when we needed it the most. They are all in our thoughts today and always.💙 If you are struggling on today's anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, know that you are not alone and that resources are available. The Disaster Distress Helpline is a free, multilingual national hotline dedicated to providing immediate crisis counseling for people in the U.S. and territories experiencing emotional distress related to natural and human-caused disasters. This includes survivors of disasters, loved ones of victims, first responders, rescue, recovery, and relief workers, clergy, and parents and caregivers. Content Warning: This post mentions suicide and suicidal ideation. "Your life is precious." We've said it before, and will say it as many times as you need to hear it. Every 40 seconds, someone dies by suicide—more than 800,000 people each year. In moments of hardship and tragedy, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed, to feel like there's no end in sight. If you're struggling with suicidal thoughts or "what-ifs," please remember: your life is precious, and you are not alone. In the darkest times, hope can be found in the people around you. Reach out, keep fighting, and know that you matter. For immediate help, contact the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988, available 24/7. • You asked, and we answered! Student mental health challenges such as social anxiety, depression, stress, and school refusal can be significant concerns for parents and students alike during the back-to-school season. And as we return to the academic setting, we must be aware of these potential challenges. "How can I support my child without being overbearing?" "How can we alleviate our child's stress as they move out of state for college?" "Where should I go for help?" Good questions! Our founder, Dr. James Flowers, PhD, CSAT, LPC-S, and clinical director, Arti Patel, have the answers. Do you have more burning questions for Dr. Flowers and Arti? Drop them in the comments or direct message! Want to speak with our integrative concierge team and learn about our comprehensive treatment program? • Dr. Flowers on the Grief & Rebirth podcast with Irene Weinberg: "We see whippets, we see marijuana, we see cocaine, we see heroin, we see alcohol, we see sex addiction, we see gambling addiction. And so much of it, you can relate back over time to trauma in their lives...we really look at the total body - the total system - and even often treat people with conditions that they didn't even know they had..." • Support groups are a powerful tool for navigating mental health challenges, chronic illnesses, or even life transitions (ex., marriage). They offer a safe, confidential space to connect, share, and support each other. Support groups can be accessed in various mediums like online forums, in-person meetings, or over the phone, ensuring everyone can find a format that suits them. Yet, misconceptions can often prevent people from taking that first step. Some of the most common myths include: 🤔𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵 𝟭: Support Groups Are Only for Severe Issues 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: They cater to various needs, from mild stress to more significant challenges. 🤔𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵 𝟮: Support Groups Aren't Confidential 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Confidentiality is a cornerstone of support groups. Members commit to respecting each other's privacy, and facilitators often enforce strict rules to ensure a safe environment. 🤔𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵 𝟯: Fear of Public Speaking 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Participation is entirely voluntary. You are in control. Members can share as much or as little as they’re comfortable with, and our clinicians will not force anyone into speaking when they are not ready. Explore our full blog on these misconceptions and how support groups can make a difference in your recovery journey: https://lnkd.in/dEBnn_MJ #MentalHealth #SupportGroups #BreakingStigma
