The DSI family proudly congratulates Shawn Schnelbach on his 30-year anniversary with DSI! Starting in 1994 as a Blueprint Operator with a pay rate of $7.50 per hour, Shawn demonstrated his willingness and dedication to learning by teaching himself AutoCAD in the evenings. His first day on the job coincided with “move-in day” into DSI’s new and existing corporate headquarters in Farmington Hills, Michigan. He has been a cornerstone of the company ever since. Prior to his work at Design Systems, Shawn served with the US Navy during Desert Storm, demonstrating his commitment and perseverance. Over his years at DSI, Shawn obtained his bachelor’s degree in business while gaining experience in Greenfield and Brownfield programs for large, high-volume, highly automated facilities as well as small, low-volume manual operations. When he was hired by Greg Broughman, the question Shawn remembers most is, “Do you have a problem working OT?” He did not – always putting in the necessary work to support each and every client, at one point working 27 straight hours in support of an automotive launch in Delaware. Fast forward 30 years, Shawn is now a Managing Partner and VP of Account Management, still taking care of each client with a personal touch and dedication to their project’s success. Best gripper ever? 🏆 A fantastic gripper design that allows for a significant acceleration of the cycle, without having to accelerate the robot arm itself. Getting the Nachi Robotics CEE robot to move faster by overcoming its inertia limitations. The gripper behaves as an additional axis that independently moves relative to the robot. It's like amplifying torque with gearing.
