The School of Human Kind is opening its doors. We’ve been planning SoHK for over a year. It’s a bold new initiative combining learning, coaching, community and international connection. World experts, with practical, real-world experience, sharing insights and wisdom with each other and with you. We’re from many countries and our work covers many areas of expertise: marketing, creativity, engineering, finance, business, counselling, wellness, personal development and much more We’re united by desire to hold space for you to grow, meet, learn and flourish. There’s two key strands: 1. The SoHK Community is a massive, ongoing program of free online events: talks, workshops, conversations, panels, practical session and more. Each week there’ll be at least two free sessions - generally lasting less than an hour. Connect with us here to see what’s coming up. Sign up for everything that interests you (usually events will be recorded so you can catch up later if you can’t attend live). We hope something will grab you, then you’ll stay around to discover things you might not have thought about before. We nuture curiousity. 2. The faculty will offer access - often at a discount - to our courses, resources and coaching programs. On the SoHK website you’ll see a list of what’s available from our excellent, international, multi-disciplinary group of coaches, teachers, thinkers, practitioners and innovators. We believe passionately in a few key things: Conversations Matter: We need to get better at having difficult conversations between diverse people. That’s how we learn. SoHK Community events encourage open, fearless exchange of ideas in supportive, respectful ways. Learning Matters: Much ‘institutional education’ fails. It turns learning into ‘fact-cramming’. Real-life learning comes from curiosity - learning from teachers and mentors who live what they teach, sharing insights with other students traveling the same path as you. Education is a relationship. Connections Matter: We’re richer when we connect beyond what we know - culturally, internationally, exploring new areas of interest, across generations. It’s not always comfortable, but it’s life-changing. Staying curious stops us staying caught in an echo chamber of our own interests. It makes us part of the worldwide web of passionate, creative, curious humans. We think of SoHK like an amazing neighbourhood coffee shop. There’s people of many generations and with many interests there. Sometimes they talk with each other. Sometimes they meet with people who’ve come along to learn from them. Sometimes ‘experts’ sit quietly and learn from whoever else is around. There’s rich, continuing conversation. Everyone learns something useful and extraordinary. We leave a little bit wiser. This is our dream. We invite you to join us. Follow us here to stay informed. #ContinuousLearning #ProfessionalDevelopment #CommunityEngagement #GlobalNetworking #InnovativeEducation

  • With the barrage of digital distractions, one thing often overlooked when we lack focus: Nutrition. What’s the connection between diet and focus: 🧠 What we eat directly affects our brain function and energy levels. 🥙Food is grounding Here’s how proper nutrition can enhance your focus: ✅ Balanced blood sugar levels: Eating balanced meals with a good mix of protein, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates helps maintain stable blood sugar levels, preventing the energy crashes that can derail your concentration. ✅ Brain-boosting nutrients: Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins (like fish, nuts, berries, and leafy greens) support brain health and improve cognitive function. ✅ Hydration matters: Dehydration can lead to fatigue and decreased attention. Ensure you’re drinking enough water throughout the day to keep your brain functioning optimally. When you find your focus waning, take a look at what you’ve been eating. A few simple changes to your diet can make a significant difference in your ability to concentrate and perform at your best.

  • Meditation is not a religious practice. Some get 🔥 up when I mention this. - Meditation is practiced in conjunction with religious traditions but is not religious. - You don't have to be on a mountain top or a yogi sitting in Lotus pose to meditate. - Anyone at any age can start meditating; the younger, the better. May is #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, which makes it a vital time to introduce meditation as a modality to help manage mental health and well-being. Meditation has an array of health benefits. But, first, it's necessary to debunk the common misconceptions around meditation: What is meditation? Meditation is a practice of mindfulness or focusing the mind on a particular thought object activity. It trains attention and awareness to achieve mental clarity and emotional calm. Although it is practiced in many religions, it is secular and can be done by everyone regardless of belief system. Meditation can be stated as focused attention on things like your breath, a mantra, a prayer, or a positive affirmation. It quiets the mind and clears the thoughts. I like to refer to it as taming the drunk monkey inside our heads. 🙉 Falling victim to the intoxicated monkey can keep you spinning your wheels about decisions you need to make, replaying old arguments you had with your spouse, or playing out stories and assumptions about yourself and others that aren't even true. But once we start meditating, we bring awareness to thoughts, which can bring great transformation to our mental and physical health. I learned meditation as part of my yoga practice and studies in Ayurvedic medicine. In this context, meditation practice is related to the Vedas (ancient Hindu scripture) However, the science of the technique, or the "How to do it," is agnostic, and the "Why" is unique to everyone regardless of their belief system. The Benefits of Meditation include: Reduced Stress. Emotional Balance. Increased Focus. Reduced Pain. Reduced Anxiety. Increased Creativity. Reduced Depression. Increased Memory. Meditate before you medicate. #meditation #workplacewellness #wellnesswednesday
