One of the things I enjoy most in my career is finding opportunities to help others succeed. I know I’m struggling in this job market and I know a lot of others are, too. So many of the best people I’ve worked with had the types of skills, experience, and impact that don’t translate well to a resume. I’m exploring a new professional platform, allUP, that I found while applying for a position. Perhaps the coolest thing I’ve done in my current job search is providing actual context to my resume via allUP 🎥 According to Joe Fernandez, their co-founder and CEO, the old way of doing things is fundamentally broken: • On average companies get more than 500 applications for every open role. • Companies usually do screening calls with about 2% of candidates. So 10 people out of the 500 applicants get screening calls. • It’s basically impossible to cut 500 candidates down to 10. This is why it feels like your resume got thrown into a black hole. And if there’s anything I really believe in, it's that we are all more than the bullet points on our resumes. As a creative content producer for startups, I can’t help but feel drawn to companies that disrupt the status quo and create a positive impact through technology. And on a personal note, making these videos was so much fun! I may be a bit biased being an actress as well, but the truth is, once I was done with them, it was evident that their mission of making sure your skills, achievements, ambition, character, and everything that makes YOU awesome to work with are fully seen was 100% accomplished.
