🚀 Moving towards a thriving NEPA for all 🚀 Today, JobsFirstNYC and Scranton Area Community Foundation convened local leaders, employers, and community stakeholders for a strategy working session. As part of the #Community𝘐𝘕𝘊 initiative, local leaders refined the strategies to ensure a thriving Northeastern Pennsylvania (NEPA) region. Our team— Stephany Garcia, David Charron, MBA, Keri Faulhaber and Allyson Bay had the opportunity to present at the event. 🛠️ Key Focus Areas: 🔹 Advocacy – Strengthening our collective voice to influence policy and community-driven solutions. 🔹 Employer Engagement – Deepening partnerships to expand career pathways and workforce opportunities. 🔹 Community Supports – Enhancing the resources that ensure economic mobility is accessible to all. 🔹 Marketing & Outreach – Amplifying the impact of our work to reach and engage those who need it most. 💡 What We’re Doing Today: ✔️ Defining a shared long-term vision for NEPA’s workforce and economic development. ✔️ Establishing clear strategies, measurable outcomes, and immediate next steps for the next 3 months. ✔️ Aligning resources, roles, and commitments to ensure accountability and execution. 🌍 Inspired by Thomas Edison’s words: "I never did anything worth doing by accident, nor did any of my inventions come by accident; they came by work." Today, we’re laying the strategic foundation to turn ideas into action—because transformation happens when strategy meets execution. Economic mobility for all young adults and their communities.
About us
JobsFirstNYC creates and advances solutions that break down barriers and transform the systems supporting young adults and their communities in the pursuit of economic opportunities. The systems designed to improve the livelihoods of young adults are fragmented and slow to respond to today’s rapidly changing economy and increased demand for skilled labor. Transforming these systems requires an unconventional approach based on intentional and inclusive collaboration. Together with our partners we embrace a collaborative 5-step process designed to identify challenges, incubate new solutions, and advance what works. While the economic success of a young adult is determined by numerous factors, we believe solutions should be sourced from diverse perspectives and experience. Our solutions transform systems within following focus areas: Transforming systems requires intentional and inclusive collaboration. As a neutral institution, we bring diverse partnerships together through a collaborative change process. In doing so, we build transformative solutions focused on identifying challenges, incubating solutions, and advancing what works.

JobsFirstNYC is celebrating our CEO and President, Marjorie Parker, for being recognized as one of @PoliticsNY and amNY Metro Black Power Players! Marjorie’s leadership and dedication continue to shape the future of workforce development, and her journey is an inspiration to so many. Reflecting on her proudest moment, she shares: "In 2017, I became part of the less than 20% of Black women leading nonprofit organizations in NYC – a milestone that deepens my commitment to fostering the next generation of women leaders. It fills me with pride to see more women stepping into leadership roles at institutions dedicated to serving their communities and creating meaningful change in the lives of young people and their families." Congratulations, Marjorie! We are proud of you. Your impact is felt every day. Special shout out to Eda Henries of Cornbread Farm to Soul. Commendations to the other leaders committed to driving meaningful change!
