Autonomous Flight — Earlier this month, we demonstrated autonomous aerial logistics operations during the U.S. Air Force’s ‘Agile Flag 24-3’ exercise using a Cessna 208B Caravan equipped with a suite of technologies developed by Xwing’s autonomy team, which Joby acquired in June of this year. During the exercise, the Caravan completed more than 3,900 miles of autonomous flight, including fully autonomous taxi, take-off and landing at numerous sites the aircraft had not previously visited. We’re building quiet, all-electric aircraft to connect people like never before.
About us
Joby is a California-based company building quiet, all-electric aircraft to connect people like never before. Quiet as a conversation and with the ability to take off and land vertically, the Joby aircraft will change the way we move while reducing the acoustic and climate footprint of flight.

We're on the cover of Airport Magazine! Our article in the AAAE (American Association of Airport Executives) magazine outlines how airports across the country should be considering electric aircraft and Advanced Air Mobility as they undergo broader electrification initiatives. On Thursday, we'll be hosting a group of AAAE members for a tour of our Marina, CA, facilities. https://lnkd.in/eVNfjiaN

Joby Aviation reposted this
Yesterday, we watched the Olympic Flag handoff from Paris Mayor Anne Hildalgo to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass at the closing ceremonies. The handoff is a tradition that goes back to the 1920 Antwerp Olympics when the flag was handed off to the Mayor of Paris for the 1924 Olympics. Now, 100 years later, the tradition continues. As an Olympian myself, it was an honor to join our strategic partner Delta for a very special flight today as they flew the Olympic flag from Paris to Los Angeles ahead of the next Olympics in 2028.

Our Founder and CEO JoeBen Bevirt: "Our goal at Joby has always been to make traveling by air as accessible, clean and quiet as possible. Electric propulsion will be key to achieving our mission, but the energy density of hydrogen is 100 times greater than today’s batteries, and it has three times the energy density of jet fuel."

We’ve rolled out our third production prototype aircraft alongside reporting second quarter 2024 financial results today. A few of the highlights from this quarter… - Production Ramp-up: Our third production prototype aircraft rolled off our pilot assembly line and our second began flying. We expect to have four aircraft in active flight test during the next quarter. - Leading on Certification: The fourth stage of certification is now more than one-third complete on the Joby side, with numerous test plans submitted and accepted during the quarter. We expect progress to accelerate in the remainder of the year. - International Expansion: We applied for certification in Australia and signed an MoU with Mukamalah, a wholly owned subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, to introduce Joby aircraft to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia via direct sales. - Preparing for Operations: We received FAA authorization to use a suite of software tools developed in-house, called “ElevateOS,” designed to enable high-tempo, on-demand air taxi operations, including pilot tools, a mobile-first rider app, and an operations core. - Future Technologies: We flew a first-of-its-kind, hydrogen-electric air taxi demonstrator 561 miles and acquired the autonomy division of Xwing, an industry leader in the development of autonomous technology for aviation. - Strong balance sheet. We maintained a strong balance sheet with $825 million in cash and short-term investments at the end of the second quarter. Joby management will host a live audio webcast of its conference call to discuss the results at 2:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. ET) today, accessible from our investor website. https://lnkd.in/eJ3kWa_Y

News: We’ve applied for our aircraft to be certified for use in Australia. Through the validation of the work we’re doing with the Federal Aviation Administration, we’re laying the groundwork for the introduction of fast, clean aerial mobility in Australia’s global cities. https://lnkd.in/e8snNKNu

One of our favorite moments from EAA AirVenture this year in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, was sharing our flight simulator with Burt Rutan, the legendary founder of Scaled Composites, LLC and the designer behind SpaceShipOne.
