  • The DAISY Award is a global recognition program honoring the compassionate care nurses provide daily. It was founded by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after his death from complications of ITP in 1999, as a way to thank nurses for the care and compassion they showed to Patrick and his family during his hospitalization. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. 💜
