From Parallel Perspectives: Providers Who Care - Sometimes, it’s tough to get a student to engage. And the temptation is to try harder—more activities, more energy. But that’s not always the answer. Sometimes, it’s about saying the right words… And suddenly, a student who seemed distant starts to pay attention. I saw this in a session last week. The student logged in, but something was off. There was no spark, just short, quiet responses. I almost stuck to the plan, but then I remembered… Sometimes, a student doesn’t need a lesson plan. They need someone to notice. So I asked, “Is everything okay today?” At first, silence. But then, a quiet reply: “I’m just feeling really sad about something that happened at recess…” Those few words changed everything. We spent a few minutes talking. I didn’t try to fix it. I just listened. Gradually, the student started to relax. By the end, there was laughter and real engagement. Just acknowledging those feelings turned the session around. We used them to practice communication, making the lesson real and relevant. By the end, the student was fully engaged, and we’d created a connection that went beyond the screen. Being a speech-language pathologist isn’t just about teaching. It’s about connecting. And sometimes, all it takes is asking the right question at the right time. #SpeechLanguagePathology #ParallelPathfinders

At Parallel we have a #PRAISE Slack Channel. Each day, this channel lights up with positivity of praise, recognition, and celebrations. It’s where we pause to recognize the hard work, creativity, and dedication that make our team so exceptional. In a world that often moves too fast, our #PRAISE channel is a reminder to slow down and say, “I see you, and I value what you’ve done.” It’s a place where we lift each other up, building a culture of gratitude. At Parallel, we know that recognition isn’t just a feel-good moment; it’s the foundation of a thriving community. Because when we celebrate each other, we grow together. So here’s to every shoutout, every thank you, and every moment of shared success—because they all remind us why we do what we do, and who we’re doing it with.
