"Why Carve.. where did the name come from?" Several people have asked me this in the past few weeks and I realized it's time to share the story behind the name. In early 2023, I was knee deep in discovery — talking to 100s of current and former EAs about learning & career development. I started a digital note for brand name inspiration (screenshot below) where I jotted down words that I felt aligned with what I was trying to do, what I wanted people to experience when they went on a journey with us. I was also immersed in learning about building a business from founders who've gone before via podcasts, books, thought leadership etc. I heard in a podcast somewhere that the best brand names are 1-2 syllables and start with a strong sound like X or K. Think Clorox, Xerox, Kleenex. (Side note: I can't find the exact source but appears Jeff Johnson is behind this insight, he was employee no. 1 at Nike and coined the Nike brand name.) And then I kept hearing myself using this phrase in discovery calls: "Carve out your career progression." So I thought.. why not call my brand Carve? Learn AI, carve out capacity for more strategic work. Carve out your career progression. Carve your own path. Carve 💛
