Here's an interesting thought from skye Coach Diana Gore, MS, PCC's blog on perception. Look at the picture below ⬇ Who is right? The correct answer? BOTH! 💡 Often in the workplace, people can see only their perspective, like viewing a 6 or a 9 from different angles. This limited view can lead to conflicts within teams and important relationships. Without examining our own perceptions and recognizing that multiple interpretations can be valid, these conflicts can grow, harming collaboration and progress. The solution? Mutual Understanding. Let's talk about taking a pause ...... What is a Sabbatical? Just a few years ago I was a solid B (+) player, hit quota every month or so but never on leaderboards or presidents club trips. Simply getting by. Professionally and personally. To be honest, I probably would have continued on that path if I didn't get access to a coach. I was reading the books. I was meeting with my manager. I was watching the call recordings. I was doing role plays with my peers. I was hitting all of the activity metrics. But still, just a B (+) player. Then it all changed. Started meeting with a coach twice a month. We didn't read books. He wasn't my manager. We didn't review all of my calls. We didn't do role plays with each other. He didn't tell me to do more with activity. To be honest, we talked about "sales" very little. Instead. We worked on my mind. We worked on my goals. We worked on my boundaries. We worked on my expectations. We worked own my whole person. We worked on my executive communication. We talked, every other week. Just us. Mainly me. Here is what happened 👇 I became happier. I made more money (since that time, 4x my yearly income) My family had more of me. I started to enjoy sales again. My company made more money. All because a company decided to spend a few thousand dollars on a B+ player. Y'all. This is why I will forever be in this industry. This is why I work at Skye. Because I can guarantee that when you invest in your people, their quality of life will go up and to the right and so will your organization's revenue. Alright, back to prospecting now. Diving into some sustainability reports to {command f} coaching and leadership development because well, I did it yesterday and booked 2 of the biggest meetings of my year!

Whenever I travel, I try to meet with as many L&D, OD, & HR leaders as I can. For instance: I’m traveling ✈️ to Seattle the week of July 22nd for several client meetings. Knowing this.. I’ve reached out to my LinkedIn L&D, OD, and HR connections who live in the greater Seattle area and sent connection requests to others, to see if they’re available & interested in meeting up for coffee ☕️, lunch, or a happy hour perhaps while I’m in town. My message is usually along the lines of.. “Hi Shelley.. How are you?! I’m going to be in Seattle the week of 7/22 for several client meetings. Would love to meet for coffee or lunch if you’re available. Always great meeting new L&D and Talent leaders in person whenever possible. Thanks for considering it!” (👆feel free to copy and use this messaging yourself.. it gets a good response rate) Of course not everyone responds (to be expected) or agrees to meet-up. However.. those who do respond and agree to meet, here’s just a few examples of the outcomes from those meet-ups: • L&D leader agreed to meet with me in Chicago: turned into a multi year partnership between our two companies. • HR leader agreed to meet with me in LA: turned into both a personal & professional relationship where our families get together at least once a year now. • L&D leader agreed to meet with me in Phoenix: turned into me helping their daughter get a job at what she considered to be her dream job after college. (👆 this one’s my favorite) • OD leader agreed to meet with me in Denver: turned into a close confidant where we connect regularly now to discuss life, business, and different career opportunities. These are just a few examples of why I love connecting with new L&D, OD, and HR leaders every chance I get when traveling. It’s more than just identifying new business opportunities.. sure, that’s one reason.. but certainly not the only reason. CTA - don’t be afraid to reach out and suggest a meeting with new leaders in your space when you travel.. sure you’ll get plenty of no’s 🤷♂️ but the ones that say yes, make the outreach and all those no’s you got worth it. Oh.. and if you’re an L&D, OD, or HR leader in the Seattle area and open to meeting for coffee, lunch, or a happy hour week of 7/22.. let me know, would love to meet up! 😊 #motivation #sales #coaching #seattle #skyeisthelimit
