Erik Carter and Jason Le Shana, PhD spoke at a gathering hosted by Special Needs Connect Texas, a network led by Joni and Friends, that provides connection and resources for churches and ministries engaged in disability ministry. Dr. Carter shared about his work on disability and belonging in the church, and Dr. Le Shana served on a panel with others who lead disability ministries in the Houston area.

Living in the rugged hill country of Nepal, Kaylani faced exclusion and cruelty due to her disability. With dwarfism, family abandonment, and extreme poverty multiplying her isolation, she struggled for years to meet her basic needs and find acceptance. When she met our team from Joni’s House Nepal, Kalyani found the kind of support she’d ached for all her life. Through Joni’s House, she has gained not only a sustainable livelihood but also hope and a sense of belonging. 🙌
