A strong company culture is one derived from a shared positive language based on organizational core values. We’ve noticed impactful results when working with teams over the last 5 years hosting an activity that creates shared positive language. We call it a love letters 💌 workshop. 🟪 HOW IT WORKS 🟪 We invite participants to write ✍🏿 positive words of kindness, and encouragement on a notecard. With organizations 💼 - we invite them to do the writing activity with specific prompts and then leave the notes in an accessible and visible open box at work. Take one when your day is feeling a bit challenging. With the public 👨👩👧 - we've invited them to leave these cards in public for someone to find and brighten up their day. I hosted a #teambuilding experience during an eBay off-site. 👊🏼 This is a modified version of rock 🪨 paper 📝 scissors ✂️ ____ 🤩 IF YOU WIN – you go on to play the next person 😔 IF YOU LOOSE – you’re now on the team of the person you lost to. - You must cheer and celebrate that person as they go around the room playing others. AT THE END - The room filled with loud cheering as the final two people showdown! _____ 💡 PRO TIP: - Cheer the persons name, it makes them feel amazing to be celebrated like that ! __ 🧠 LESSON: - it teaches us that we can support each other through any project. At work, we get a voice, but it doesn’t mean that we always get our way. Sometimes we have to support others and their ideas and this activity teaches us that we can do that with Grace and celebration. __ ⏰ WHEN TO USE IT - when you want to elevate the energy in the room and create camaraderie ex. In a world where you can be anything...give yourself permission to be authentically you! Lately, at the events we've been hosting, we've asked people to put their name and secret sauce on their name tags. 💫 Secret Sauce - Your Je Ne Said Quoi ... that thing that makes you, you! I had a hard time at first, as most people do when we walk them through this exercise, but then it hit me. 🕺 Be the 1st person on the dance floor. Inspired by my friend 🎤 Rob Ferre, CSP We're permission based beings and often we don't feel safe doing something bold until someone else has done it, then it makes it safe! 😬 It's taken me a long time to feel comfortable with who I am and I'm proud of how far I've come. We at JoymobEvents recently facilitated connection activities for private party and one of them was an eye contact game. ⚡️PURPOSE: The host wanted to celebrate 🎉 their housewarming with good friends, but not everyone knew each other and she wanted to ensure that everyone could connect on a meaningful level. ⚡️CHALLENGE: When we enter a new social situation, like a house gathering, we’re often left to our own social skills to figure out how to bond with others. While a handshake 🤝 and a default question like, what do you do for work? Or, how do you know the host? can serve us at times, they lack can creativity, originality, and often lead to generic simple answers. ⚡️SOLUTION: Working with the host to uncover the true purpose of the gathering, we designed a series of activities and games to help people bond, laugh, and create an unforgettable shared experience❗️ 🔷ACTIVITY #2 : Eye Contact We asked participants to draw each other’s faces. We gave them a QR code, and some digital tools to be able to do this at scale for such a large house gathering. 🙏🏿 to Piccles &Chris Bent 🥒 for the tech! 🔷RULES: Can’t look down at your drawing ✍🏻 Can’t lift your pen 🖊️ ⚡️OUTCOME: a room full of laughter DURING the activity, and after, when looking at their beautiful Picasso! Why is this so effective? Human beings are complex, multidimensional beings that crave social connection and understand that we reach high levels of it through vulnerability and yet we’re willing to feel lonely instead of being vulnerable because we could be hurt. ______ 🤩🎉⚡️ Simple actions.
