The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast continue to create innovative programs and opportunities for our youth and we were proud to serve on this year’s Be Great Gala committee. Each year at the BE GREAT Gala, they honor and recognize a DreamMaker: an individual who has made a significant impact in the lives of our youth, inspiring them to pursue greatness and helping make dreams come true. They also recognize a Corporate Champion, a partner who embodies the spirit of a true Blue Ambassador, ensuring all children will build life-long, positive memories, achieve their greatest potential and inspire future generations. ✨Importance of a Work-Life Harmony✨ Everyone hears the phrase “work-life balance”, but that implies a strict tradeoff in which the time not spent on personal matters is being sacrificed on work. David Ballard, Director of the American Psychological Association’s Center for Organizational Excellence, told CNN Money, “I think the way work-life balance gets talked about is frequently inaccurate. The ‘balance’ part of it is implying you’re equally dividing time and energy, which isn’t necessarily the case.” Instead, we think of the term “Work-Life Harmony”. The idea of work-life harmony integrates work into your life rather than separating the two, changing the way you think and feel about your work and personal life. Here are three ways that you can find your “Work-Life Harmony!” 1. Plan Your Week Around Priorities Not Time: Focusing on balancing work and life often distracts us from our true priorities. Instead of assigning fixed time to specific tasks, break them into smaller daily steps; this approach prioritizes your goals and can reveal more time than you anticipated. 2. Find Meaning in What You Do: Think about your goals and what motivates you at work. It is important to love what you do! 3. Identify the Positive and the Negative: Achieving “Work-Life Harmony” involves recognizing how both aspects affect your happiness and well-being. By identifying positive and negative influences in your work and personal life, you can leverage the positives to improve the negatives, ultimately enhancing your mental and physical health.
