This is a big year for the K-State Alumni Association. For 150 years, we’ve advocated for and served K-Staters worldwide, as well as the university. “We’re excited to celebrate our Alumni Association’s 150-year legacy of carrying the banner high for K-Staters everywhere,” said Adam Walker ’04, ’09, president and CEO of the K-State Alumni Association. “The Association has an outstanding legacy of stepping up to meet the needs, connect, and celebrate the university and our alumni. A disinterested interviewer might not look at you as you’re speaking. Even worse, they might check their phone or computer monitor, so you can’t tell if they’re listening. If they don’t take any notes, you can’t be sure that they’ll remember what you said – or remember it accurately. If they don’t ask any follow-up questions and you’re doing all the talking, you can’t be sure that you’re highlighting what’s important in deciding who gets this job. Yet, if your interviewer seemed disinterested, all hope is not lost.

With the 2024 Paris Olympics now ended and the Paris 2024 Paralympics soon to begin, we're sharing photos of K-State's most decorated Olympian, Thane Baker '53. Baker won the silver medal in the 200 meters in the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, Finland. He followed that with three medals four years later in Melbourne, Australia. Baker won silver in the 100 meters and bronze in the 200 meters and ran a leg of the 4X100 relay team that brought gold back to the United States. When the call went out to fill the slate for the first year class at Kansas City University's College of Dental Medicine, founding dean and vice provost for oral health, Dr. Linda Niessen, told applicants she was looking for 80 pioneers who wanted to make a difference. Tabor Barta ’22, Amy Schaulis ’22 and Nolan Conrad ’23 are three of the students in the inaugural class of the new college in Joplin, Missouri. https://lnkd.in/gQS37Z7Z

Lisa Wilken ’03 is well regarded for her teaching style. She joined K-State's faculty in 2012. Throughout her career at K-State, Wilken has been dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of students by facilitating student success as an academic, career and research adviser; integrating high impact learning activities and innovative teaching strategies; developing strong relationships with students within and beyond the classroom; and actively serving her department, the Carl R.
