  • Did someone say lunch? Kairos Project Group, Inc. is proud to be part of the project team that created Johnston County Government's first #foodhall! Old North State Food Hall consisted of the redevelopment of the existing JR's Cigar Warehouse into a 10-stall food hall spanning 15,000 square feet. The food hall includes a tavern, conference space, and offers flexible commercial kitchen solutions for each stall to accommodate varying vendors or new tenants. 𝔻𝕖𝕤𝕚𝕘𝕟 𝕒𝕟𝕕 ℂ𝕠𝕟𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕦𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 ℍ𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕝𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤: 𝙇𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙛 𝙏𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣 & 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚: The tavern was designed and constructed within the existing cigar humidor space, preserving the original character of the building. The humidor, with its antique hickory facade, serves as a focal point of the facility enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the tavern and conference space. 𝙁𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜: The existing antique wood flooring, a significant feature of the building, was preserved for the new space. The KPG team provided unconventional plumbing and utility routing to maintain the integrity of the antique floors. 𝙋𝙡𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙐𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨: To maintain the aesthetic integrity and provide unobstructed overhead views, traditional utility paths were reimagined. Water, power, and sewer lines were routed under the flooring to supply the food stalls located in the middle of the facility. This unique design required meticulous planning and execution to ensure functionality while preserving the building's historical features.

  • Did you know, that Kairos Project Group, Inc. also offers in-house #3DLaserScanning Services? Let's chat briefly about why this is important to your projects. 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙘𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙮 𝙍𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙙: Traditional methods of surveying and data collection in projects often entail manual measurements and subjective interpretations, leaving room for errors and discrepancies. Enter 3D laser scanning, a powerful tool that captures millions of data points with unparalleled accuracy. By swiftly creating detailed 3D visualizations of existing conditions, it offers a precise representation of reality. This precision minimizes the likelihood of errors during design, construction, and renovation phases, ultimately leading to enhanced project outcomes. 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣: Time is of the essence in construction, and any delays or inefficiencies can significantly impact schedule and budget. The technology provides comprehensive and intricate digital replicas of buildings, enabling architects, engineers, and stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of the project environment. The scans facilitate better decision-making, as stakeholders can visualize designs in the context of existing conditions, identify potential clashes or conflicts early on, and iterate designs with precision. Consequently, project timelines are streamlined and costly rework is minimized. 𝙀𝙣𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: 3D laser scanning fosters a collaborative environment by serving as a common reference point for all stakeholders involved. The detailed scan data generated by the technology offer a visual medium that transcends language barriers and technical jargon, enabling clear and concise communication. Whether it's sharing design intent, discussing construction sequencing, or resolving conflicts, stakeholders can leverage these immersive tools to align their vision and objectives. Furthermore, with cloud-based platforms, teams can access and collaborate on these models remotely, breaking down geographical barriers and fostering seamless collaboration across distributed teams. • Natural born difference maker. Many people know how to make a difference, but struggle to make the difference, to actually close the gap. Not this one. We are fortunate to have Kelsey Jones on our team!

Meet Kelsey Jones, Kairos Project Group, Inc. Director of Business Development and resident extrovert. Kelsey enjoys traveling, trying new coffee spots, golf in the summer and snowboarding in the winter! A little Q&A with Kelsey: What’s something you’ve always wanted to try or learn? A second language. Currently working on German! What have been some of the most important lessons you’ve learned throughout your career? Accountability is everything. Do what you say you’re going to do. When you make a mistake, own it and work towards a solution. What is a dream that you want to make come true one day? Visiting every continent. What’s the best trip you’ve ever been on? Why? Solo trip to Peru to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. One of the most physically and mentally grueling experiences of my life, but absolutely a once in a lifetime experience.

  • Modular Chiller Plant? Tell me more. In this uniquely complex project, the KPG team worked with Product Recovery Management to design a Modular Central Energy Plant (CEP) at PRM's Butner, NC facility. Due to sheer size of the CEP, the KPG team had to coordinate with multiple stakeholders including NCDOT to reverse engineer the transport of the structure which included chillers, pumps, pipes & electrical panels to successfully transfer the modularized CEP from the manufacturer to the owner's facility. Project Manager at Focus Design Builders

My favorite phrase is, here is your C/O. Well, after (here is your check). Just closed out the $20 mil. renovation of J&J Snack Foods building and installing new process line. Very much enjoyed working on this project and with this customer to bring this job to like. Starting at one end with raw goods, sending it down the 150' line to the spiral oven, then over 50' to spiral freezer, back down 150' through packaging to end up just a few feet away from where we started on a pallet ready to ship out to customers. Very challenging project with having to install all new undergrounds, revising the structural integrity of the existing structure to accommodate the new designs, installing all stainless steel process piping, installing all new raw and packaging process equipment, large scale spiral oven and freezer, new sprinkler systems, and new wash down systems all while having to work with subcontract crews and equipment from North America, Italy, Mexico, and The Netherlands. All while working in a facility that is still in use. Having to maintain and work behind a containment wall as to allow no debris to contaminate the process line still in use inside the same building. Focus Design Builders, LLC is ready for more. Bring it on. There is no such thing as (outside the box). We have a big box!

  • Meet Ben Lewis, PE, Kairos Project Group, Inc. Owner & Principal Engineer! A Raleigh native and Wolfpack super fan, Ben is the captain of our ship and makes work fun while doing it. Ben’s levity and laughter are infectious, and he is a joy to be around! A little Q&A with Ben: What’s something you’ve always wanted to try or learn? How to ride one of those one-wheel scooters that has no seat or handlebar. What do you love most about your job? The team approach to solving problems. What is a dream that you want to make come true one day? 4 day work week, 3 day weekend, every week. What’s something surprising that not many people know about you? I can tell a lot about a person by the beverage they drink, especially coffee.
