Kakenya’s Dream is deeply saddened by the tragic fire at Hillside Endarasha Academy, which claimed the lives of so many young children. Schools are meant to be safe havens, where children are free to learn, dream, and grow. To see that safety shattered is devastating for families and communities alike. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with those affected, and we stand with them in their grief. As a nation, we must take urgent action to ensure that all schools adhere to the highest safety standards so that such unimaginable losses never happen again. https://lnkd.in/gH-KkYae

I was honored to attend the 15th anniversary of the DVF Awards yesterday, a celebration that coincides with our own 15th anniversary here at Kakenya's Dream. As a 2011 recipient of the DVF Award and now a new grantee, I am profoundly grateful to Diane von Furstenberg and the Diller von Furstenberg Foundation for their unwavering support over the years. This year’s generous grant will continue to fuel our mission to educate, empower, and uplift vulnerable girls in Kenya and beyond. Meeting Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King was a truly unforgettable highlight and a powerful reminder of what is possible when dreams are shared. Together, we are creating a world where every girl has the opportunity to learn, lead, and change the world.
