Principal Geologist, Timothy Strong, recently contributed to the development of the Site Visit Model Protocols for International Arbitration. This document is designed to help parties effectively organize site visits during the arbitration process, particularly in mining-related disputes.
I had the honour of contributing to the working group on Site Visit Model Protocols, specifically designed to support international arbitration, with a particular focus on the mining sector, where site visits are most common. The document aims to guide parties in organizing site visits during arbitration proceedings. It offers a set of default clauses, structured as Articles, to address key issues that may arise. Each Article is accompanied by Drafting Notes that provide further information and procedural suggestions for consideration. A special thank you to the co-chairs, Ema Vidak Friedman and Zelda Hunter, for inviting me to be part of this important initiative.
