About us
Kaniksu Community Health is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center whose mission is to provide high quality comprehensive and affordable medical, pediatric, dental, behavioral health and veteran care. Our clinical and administrative teams work together to make Kaniksu Community Health the medical home for over 25,000 residents of Bonner and Boundary counties, with clinic locations in: Bonners Ferry Ponderay Priest River Sandpoint Pediatrics Sandpoint Same Day Clinic Our services are open to everyone, including those facing barriers elsewhere, such as the uninsured, migrant and seasonal farm workers, those living in rural areas, and the homeless. We accept most insurances including Medicaid and Medicare. A Sliding Discount Program is available for those meeting income guidelines.

They take an estimated 17.9 million lives each year, which represents 31% of all global deaths. ❤️Over 85% of all CVD deaths are due to heart attacks and strokes. ❤️At least 80% of premature deaths from heart disease and stroke could be avoided through healthier lifestyle choices like regular exercise, a balanced diet, and avoiding tobacco. ❤️High blood pressure is the leading risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Globally, 1.13 billion people suffer from hypertension, with two-thirds living in low - and middle-income countries. ❤️Obesity is on the rise, contributing significantly to heart disease - over 650 million adults worldwide are obese, which is triple the number in 1975. ❤️Tobacco use is a major risk factor - smoking is responsible for 1 in 5 deaths from heart disease. ❤️Diabetes doubles the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. Nearly half of all adults in the U.S. have some form of cardiovascular disease, including heart attack, stroke or heart failure. High cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes and uncontrolled high blood pressure are leading risk factors for cardiovascular disease, but with timely diagnosis, research-based treatment and education, these conditions can be managed. Kaniksu Community Health has received Gold level recognition as part of the 2024 Target: Type 2 Diabetes American Heart Association outpatient program achievement awards in recognition for its commitment to reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke by improving high cholesterol and Type 2 diabetes and blood pressure management. The awards recognize a commitment to following the latest evidence- and science-based care guidelines.
