We teamed up with the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers baseball team for a "Faith & Family Night" last Friday, and the Cannon Ballers absolutely hit it out of the park!
It was the biggest crowd for a Friday in Cannon Ballers history, with over 4,300 fans in attendance!
Their sales team had a record 27 Church groups in attendance.
When I work with sports teams on these Faith Nights, I am hoping they catch the vision of what the night could be. Not just slapping the Faith Night name on it with nothing else being different than any other game. Instead, diving into the Theme of the night and building around it. The Cannon Ballers did just that.
They played Christian Music non-stop throughout the night, and they also came up with quirky minor league baseball type promotions that fit the theme, like:
- They had a "Tebow cam" where people strike a pose like Tim Tebow used to.
- They turned "Water into Wine", and had a game where kids ran water bottles to one side of the field and ran Cheerwine back.
- They did a Lip Sync Battle to a popular Christian song.
- They actually did a baptism in between innings! One of their Church partners offered to do it and they had someone in their congregation who really wanted to be baptized and did it at the game. It was awesome.
- A local pastor led a Pre-game Prayer before the National Anthem.
They also made sure the Presenting Sponsor of the night (HIS Radio) was incorporated into as much as possible, having me on their On-Field Pre-Game Show for 7-minutes and mentioning us non-stop throughout the night.
I have worked with a lot of Sports Teams over the years who have done a very good job with the partnership, but the Cannon Ballers took it to the next level! I look forward to doing our second night in August!
Kudos to Brooke Royal who saw one of my LinkedIn posts about another Faith Night and reached out, wanting to do one with us! She and her team were incredible.
