We just wrapped up our annual YBOK conference with an engaging session with Neil Stevens, President & CEO of Oconee State Bank, on fostering team engagement, connections, and a vibrant work culture. A heartfelt thank you to all our young bankers who attended, and a special shout-out to Fort Hays State University Foundation for hosting us at the Robbins Center! At the 2024 Annual Young Bankers of Kansas Conference (YBOK), we heard from Chris Wente, President & CEO of Golden Belt Bank, and Jordan Lauer, President & CEO of Farmers State Bank, who shared their insights on industry trends, their career journeys, and valuable advice for young bankers. Brent Bundick, VP & Senior Advisor at the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank, provided an insightful economic update on inflation, the labor market and the Feds recent action to lower interest rates. A big thank you to our speakers for their expertise!

In our third session of the 2024 Annual Young Bankers of Kansas (YBOK) Conference, we had the privilege of hearing from U.S. Congressman Tracey Mann. His insights from Washington D.C. provided a valuable perspective on the current priorities of Congress, including the Farm Bill, CFPB’s proposed rule on 1071 and his election outlook. We extend our sincere gratitude to Congressman Mann for taking the time to speak with us and share his expertise. The second session of the 2024 Annual Young Bankers of Kansas (YBOK) Conference featured a dynamic panel discussion with W.R. Robbins, Chairman & CEO of Farmers Bank & Trust; Jason Williby, President & CEO of the FHSU Foundation; Dr. Dosse Toulaboe, Chair & Professor of Robbins College of Business & Entrepreneurship; and Dr. Emily Breit, Professor of Finance. The panel focused on strategies for training and retaining the next generation of bankers in Kansas. Special thanks to Alex Orel, SVP of Government Relations, for expertly moderating the session.

Cole Thompson of KBA was honored to attend the Wichita Business Journal's "Executives of the Year" luncheon, which award winner Gil Trout of Emprise Bank invited him to. He also had the pleasure of seeing other respected bankers receive recognition, including Mary Ann Berry of Stryv Bank, Rick Sems of Equity Bank, and Bradley Bryant of Union State Bank - Kansas/Oklahoma. Congratulations to all the honorees, and thank you for representing Kansas banking so well.
