The Jarrell City Manager who filed a sexual harassment complaint against three members of Jarrell City Council has been fired, according to their attorney. The council voted 3-2 to fire city manager Danielle Singh, six months after she filed charges of harassment and discrimination against council members Jeff Seidel, Daniel Islas, and Adam Marsh. All three voted to terminate her. Singh's lawyer argues they engaged in unlawful retaliation against an employee. “We believe members of the Jarrell City Council violated both state and federal employment law by engaging in unlawful retaliation against an employee who has an active complaint against members of the body,” said Tanner Michelle Scheef with Kaplan Law Firm, who represents Danielle Singh. “The elected officials who voted to fire her have a duty to serve the public interest, but acted in a way that blatantly serves only their personal interests.” Thanks CBS Austin for covering the story. #jarrelltx #jarrelltexas #jarrell

The city of Jarrell voted to terminate its city manager during a special meeting on Oct. 8 months after claims of sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace. It came down to a 3-2 vote. Danielle Singh's attorney, Tanner Scheef, said the move was done in retaliation as Singh had filed complaints against three council members. Those council members - Adam Marsh, Daniel Islas, and Jeff Seidel - who voted in favor of Singh's firing are the ones named in the complaint, according to Scheef. Thanks to KVUE for covering the story.

In a significant and controversial move, the Jarrell City Council (Williamson County, Texas) has fired its city manager after she filed a sexual harassment complaint against three members of the council. Our client, Danielle Singh, served as city manager since 2023 and filed an EEOC complaint against three council members earlier this year; the vote to terminate her was 3-to-2 with all three votes coming from those named in her complaint. As stated by Kaplan Law Firm attorney Tanner Scheef, “Under federal law, she is protected in filing an EEOC charge and the federal right was violated.” We’ll continue to stand up for Danielle Singh and anyone who has their rights violated in the workplace. Thanks KTBC Fox 7 for covering the story! #employmentlaw #jarrell #jarrellcitycouncil

🎉 Exciting News! 🎉 Kaplan Law Firm is proud to support both Bri Terrell, a dedicated public-interest student, and our very own law clerk, Gabriel Loya, through the BARBRI Matching Day Program! For those unfamiliar, BARBRI is a premier bar exam preparation course that helps law graduates prepare for the bar exam. Thanks to the firm’s sponsorship and BARBRI’s match, both Bri and Gabriel received full BARBRI course sponsorships, totaling $4,000 each. Gabriel will also be joining us as a full-time associate attorney in October 2025! 💼 A big thank you to BARBRI for partnering with us to support public-interest students and future attorneys as they embark on their legal journeys. We look forward to more opportunities to make a positive impact in the legal community. #PlaintiffsLaw #PublicInterestLaw #BARBRIMatchingDay #EmploymentLaw #CivilRightsLaw #KaplanLawFirm #FutureLawyers #LegalCommunity #Empowerment

Reminder from Tanner Scheef: many salaried employees are entitled to overtime pay, and companies rarely tell them. This is a huge issue for inside sales - positions like AEs, BDMs, etc. - there is potentially millions of dollars owed to sales employees paid base + commission across the country right now.
The biggest misconception in employment law? That being salaried automatically means you don’t get overtime! Click the link below to watch our first Kaplan Law Firm TikTok where I break down this misconception!
