We were honored to hear from the Honorable Rechie Valdez, Minister of Small Business, today. As the first Filipino-Canadian woman elected as a Member of Parliament and appointed to Cabinet, she shared insights on government initiatives for developing VCs and championing diverse voices. We ended the day with perspectives from Canadian LPs— Kim Furlong (Canadian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (CVCA)) moderated a dynamic discussion with Ian Carew (Northleaf Capital Partners), John Rikhtegar (RBCx), and Senia Rapisarda, LL.M, CIM (HarbourVest Partners) about key trends shaping the #CanadianVC landscape. Thank you all for an inside look into the Canadian VC ecosystem!

We just wrapped up an incredible day at the #KFSummit in Montréal, bringing together some of the brightest minds in tech and venture capital. We gained incredible insights from experts in clean tech. Amanda Hall (Summit Nanotech) and Alicia Lenis, (KF Class 27, Chrysalix Venture Capital) emphasized clean tech's critical role in driving sustainability, with Frederic Lalonde (Hopper, Deep Sky) sharing strategies for carbon removal at scale. Meanwhile, Katherine Homuth (SRTX) and Joanna Harries (KF Class 17, Endeavor) talked about how sustainable textile technologies are disrupting the global fashion industry. On the AI front, Martin Kon (Cohere) and Mark Trevitt (KF Class 23, Defined) explored building scalable, production-ready AI applications, while Louis Tetu (Coveo) brought clarity to turning AI hype into tangible business outcomes. Michelle Scarborough (KF Class 26, BDC) and Raquel Urtasun (Waabi) shared AI's role in advancing self-driving technology. A huge thank you to all the speakers and attendees for bringing such energy and innovation to the table. Can’t wait for more thought-provoking discussions tomorrow! #kauffmanfellows #vc #venturecapital

Partnerships are not about paper; they are about people. Special thanks to Isabelle Hudon, President and CEO of BDC, who helped kick off our day alongside Kauffman Fellows CEO Fernando Fabre. We thank you for BDC's generous sponsorship of this Summit. BDC is a foundational pillar in the development of the venture capital and entrepreneur ecosystem in Canada, and through our long-standing partnership (since 2017!), Canada has become our 4th largest market in the world. As an admirer of BDC and your work, Isabelle, we wish every country in the world one day has its own BDC and someone like you to run it, pushing entrepreneurship forward.
So exciting to see Kauffman Fellows and their dynamic CEO Fernando Fabre converge to Ville de Montréal for their annual summit. BDC has long been a proud and engaged participant in the network’s activities and it is an honor for us to support this year’s summit, the first one to be held in Canada. In fact, BDC has a lot in common with the values and philosophy of Kauffman Fellows – especially a shared belief that equity and fairness are not only important, but that they can also be good for business and lead to very successful investments. I wish all attendees to have a great Summit and to take advantage of this opportunity to discover the many opportunities Canada has to offer! Without a local planning committee of Fellows who operate within the ecosystem in which we host our annual summits, there is no Kauffman Fellows Summit. We're beyond grateful to the Canada Fellows Committee, who helped orchestrate the entire Montréal experience by sharing their expertise, identifying speakers, recruiting sponsors, and leading panels. Thank you for hosting us! We are incredibly grateful to chair lead Ela Borenstein and the entire committee: Ajay Gopal, Alex Baker, Alicia Lenis, Code Cubitt, Eleonore Jarry, George Babu, Joanna Harries, Karim Gillani, Lesley Esford, Margaret Wu, Mark Trevitt, Mia Morisset, Michelle Scarborough, Mike McCauley, Rob Barbara, and Shirley Speakman.
