    KCE Trials would like to congratulate CI Prof C Rosmans, National Coordinator Dr H Van Veer and his team at UZ Leuven on randomising the first participant in the PERSuaDER study: PERi-operative Selective Decontamination of the Digestive tract to prevent severe infectious complications after Esophagectomy (BeNeFIT21563). This study aims to show whether selective decontamination of the digestive tract with antibiotics before and immediately after surgery, for esophageal cancer, gives better outcomes, specifically less postoperative pneumonia.     KCE Trials is delighted to announce the funding of the HIT Hard study: A pHase III cluster randomIsed controlled, cross-over, non-inferiority Trial of a short course, High dose AntimicRobials vs conventional dose and Duration in critically ill patients (BeNeFIT-220010). This study seeks to determine whether a shorter course of high dose antibiotics is not less effective than the standard longer course with the aim of contributing to good antibiotic stewardship.  Congratulations to the Sponsor UZ Gent, CI Prof. Dr. Jan De Waele and Dutch Coordinating Centre Radboud University Medical Centre. These trials are non-commercial and emphasize data sharing to maximize the impact of their findings. By supporting high-quality, investigator-led clinical trials, KCE Trials helps improve healthcare practices and patient outcomes. 🔍 Key Highlights: - Focus on pragmatic comparative effectiveness, non-commercial trials, and data sharing. Drug repurposing trials are also in scope under certain conditions. - A €10 million annual budget dedicated to funding of studies. - Enhanced quality support with training for trial teams and extended audits. - Funding of national trials and participation to international studies.     KCE Trials is happy to announce the funding of the TELSTAR-2 study: Evaluation of treatment with anti-seizure medication in comatose cardiac arrest patients with status epilepticus on continuous electroencephalographic (BeNeFIT-221002). This study seeks to determine whether adding a treatment for definitive seizure suppression, in addition to standard of care, improves functional recovery for adult comatose patients after out of hospital cardiac arrest and successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation, admitted to the intensive care unit, with ESE on continuous EEG. Congratulations to the Sponsor University of Twente, CI Prof. J. Hofmeijer, Belgian National Coordinator Nicolas Gaspard and coordinating centre Hôpital Universitaire de Bruxelles (H.U.B) - Academisch Ziekenhuis Brussel (H.U.B).
