For nearly 50 years, KC Shepherd’s Center has offered a unique peer led platform of services aimed at helping older adults to stay active and involved, get the care they need, remain independent as long as possible in their own homes, and age well in place. Our model is ‘of seniors, by seniors, for seniors’, reflected in our senior volunteers, our governance structures and our programs.

Today we honor Martin Luther King Jr.'s life, legacy and the impact he made on the world. As we remember and celebrate the life of Dr. King, we stay inspired to continue creating a more loving and compassionate world. As a reminder, our offices will be closed in observance of the holiday. Our Meals on Wheels program will resume as normal tomorrow. We hope everyone has a meaningful Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

KCSC was happy to host State Representative Patty Lewis of Kansas City during a ride-along with our Meals on Wheels program. Rep. Lewis, who serves on the Health and Mental Health Policy and Healthcare Reform Committees, is dedicated to shaping policies that directly benefit our community's most vulnerable citizens. "Programs like Meals on Wheels are crucial for our community's health," Lewis emphasized.
