While healing from an injury, your employer may encourage you to return to work with light or modified job duties. Here are 5 things to keep in mind: 1. The modified job duties should align with the kinds of job activities that you and your doctor discussed and agreed to. 2. Generally, if your light or modified work pays the same as you made before your work injury, your payments for lost wages will not continue. If your light or modified work pays less, you will receive temporary partial disability benefits to make up the difference. 3. If you return to light or modified work and find that it is still too difficult for you, you may have more options. 4. Employers should abide by the restrictions your doctor has imposed. 5. On July 28, 2022, Dominic DePalma, 17, was killed in a drinking and driving accident. The driver was underage and driving while impaired by alcohol and marijuana. Since then, his family and friends have continued to honor his life through "Do it for Dominic D," an organization that advocates for safe driving and celebrates Dominic's memory. This year, their first annual charity event raised awareness about drinking and driving. Donations go to a variety of things, including scholarships for student athletes in middle school and high school. Four essential elements to check in your #personalinjury claim (and examples): 1. Duty The duty someone has depends on the specific circumstances of the case. For example, a hotel owner may have a duty to make a hotel reasonably safe for their guests. 2. Breach of Duty If a duty is established you and the other person,you must also show that the other person breached that duty. If the hotel owner's duty was to use reasonable care to protect guests from foreseeable harm, you must then show that they failed to do this, such as ignoring spills and failing to display “caution” signs when floors were wet. 3. Causation Proof that the other person is the one responsible for the harm is required. For example, you must show proof that your injury such as a broken arm from slipping on the floor is caused by the hotel owner's breach of duty. 4. Damages Determination of damages is the final essential element of a claim. You can prove physical and emotional damages using medical bills, missed time from work, or other ways your life was affected.
