September 10th is a special day for Kelley’s Glass and Mirror. On this day in 1958, our Founder, Jerry Kelley, was born in a small town in Alabama.
Four years ago, on September 10th, 2020, Jerry passed away on his birthday, leaving KGM to start its next chapter and his family to fill a giant hole left behind.
Jerry was bigger than life. His path was not always easy, with plenty of ups and downs, but he lived an amazing life, accomplishing more than a poor boy from Butler, Alabama could ever dream of.
Jerry was happy, hilariously funny, and dearly loved by his family. He had a passion for his business and focused every day on leaving a lasting legacy.
His funeral overflowed out of the church’s doors, even in the middle of a pandemic. He had more friends than you could count, and many mourned the loss of the wonderful man he was.
Jerry was a great father and grandfather. He loved his community and was a staple in Irving, TX, from the day he opened the doors to Kelley’s Glass and Mirror in 1984.
We know he would be amazed by the growth over the last 4 years, as we continue to honor his legacy by scaling the business and making Kelley a name everyone knows in the commercial glazing industry.
With his foundation, we have increased revenue by 10X, and he would be so proud to see what the little glass business he started, literally in his backyard, has become—and will become in the future.
Making him proud and honoring him is the driving force behind our success. We owe him so much for creating a business that is community-focused, resilient, and has stood the test of time for four decades.
Today we celebrate him. We miss him dearly, and we know we will see him again in heaven.
Cheers to Jerry Kelley—a man who exemplified the rags-to-riches story, the bootstrap journey, and the American dream.
Forever in our hearts and never forgotten.
