KenCrest hosted Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon at one of our group homes. We discussed the DSP staffing shortages, impact of overall quality and continuity care for the I/DD individuals we serve, the need for continued investment in the workforce with a focus on career track opportunities, active community engagement by the individuals in the house, and support for bipartisan federal legislation to establish a district Standard Occupational Classification for DSPs. Thank you again Congresswoman Scanlon for making the visit! She made a point of letting the group know to keep her office informed of topics of importance as Congress addresses the appropriations bills after August recess.
