At Keolis Downer, "Think like a passenger" is at the heart of everything we do. We're thrilled to support the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower - Australia & New Zealand Program, an internationally recognized initiative that offers people with non-visible disabilities a way to gain support without needing to disclose personal information. Our aim is to ensure everyone travelling on our networks feels safe and supported, can travel with confidence, and has a positive journey on board. This week, our Yarra Trams team proudly welcomed the Bayley House Hidden Disabilities Sunflower - Australia & New Zealand as the final tram of the 2024 Yarra Trams Community Partnership Program. This program provides in-kind advertising to six not-for-profit organizations each year. The striking Hidden Disability Sunflower tram is more than just a mode of transport—it's a moving billboard advocating for inclusivity, acceptance, and understanding for those with hidden disabilities. Our commitment doesn't stop there. The Sunflower Hidden Disabilities Program has now been rolled out across our networks at Yarra Trams, KD Northern Beaches - Sydney, KD Adelaide, and now KD Hunter, the proud operator of Newcastle Transport. Together, we're making our transport services more inclusive and supportive for everyone. Today our CEO Julien Dehornoy had the pleasure of joining the panel discussion on "Powering Our Future – The Energy Transition" at the Australasian Railway Association (ARA) - Rail Sustainability Leaders’ Summit in Melbourne. At Keolis Downer, we partner with PTAs to accelerate the energy transition with large-scale deployments in public transport. Julien spoke about the need to focus on energy efficiency first, and explained how we train and support our drivers with eco-driving best practices to reduce up to 20% of fuel consumption. He also highlighted the use of alternative fuels across all modes, including electric and hydrogen trains. 🚆🔋 #arasummit #railsustainabilitysummit #KeolisDowner #Trains #Rail #EnergyTransition

With the relaunch of the iconic 'Beware the Rhino' campaign in April, our Yarra Trams team has achieved remarkable results! There has been an impressive 17% reduction in vehicle-to-tram collisions across Melbourne’s tram network, an 8% decrease compared to the same time last year. With 74% of Melbourne’s tram network shared with other road users, Yarra Trams experiences over 1000 vehicle-to-tram collisions each year, with serious implications for passenger, employee and community safety, as well as tram availability while trams are being repaired after a collision. Reducing vehicle-to-tram collisions is a significant achievement, showcasing our commitment to Zero Harm and to delivering safe and reliable services across our operations. A huge well done to our Yarra Trams team! 👏 #ZeroHarm #SafetyFirst #KeolisDowner #YarraTrams #PublicTransport #Melbourne #BewareTheRhino

Last Sunday our team at Keolis Downer Gold Coast, proud operator of the Gold Coast Light Rail – G:link, kicked off Rail Safety Week with a fantastic Safety Sunday engagement session at Helensvale station. The community came out to learn how to stay safe on and around the G:link network, and our team enjoyed making it a fun experience for the whole family. A highlight for many was the stationary tram with the driver’s cab open, giving kids the opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat! We’re committed to ensuring the safety of our passengers and the community, and events like this help spread important safety messages in an engaging way. Thank you to everyone who joined our Gold Coast team and made the day a success! #RailSafetyWeek #KeolisDowner #Glink #GoldCoast #CommunityEngagement #TramSafety #RSW2024 #StayFocusedStaySafe George Davis Erin Parker

🚆 ZERO HARM | Keolis Downer Adelaide (KDA) acknowledges Rail Safety Week With consistently high numbers of near misses and serious incidents on the Adelaide Metropolitan Passenger Rail Network (AMPRN), KDA has contributed to the development of a public awareness campaign that highlights how a split second of carelessness in the rail corridor could change everything. An impactful reminder that ‘real life doesn’t rewind.’ For this year's Rail Safety Week campaign, KDA has worked alongside The Department for Infrastructure and Transport, South Australia Police, and Torrens Connect to produce bespoke material featuring near-miss footage from across the AMPRN, paired with important safety messages. These videos are available for viewing via QR codes displayed on campaign signage throughout the network, allowing community members to view the harrowing ‘near hit’ that occurred within meters of where they are standing. Learning from their mistakes could save your life! Pause your tunes. Listen for trains. #RailSafetyWeek2024 #RSW2024 #ZeroHarm #StayFocusedStaySafe

🚊 As we kick off Rail Safety Week, our team at Keolis Downer Hunter, proud operator of Newcastle Transport, is urging Novocastrians to stay alert and stay safe around the Newcastle light rail. 📹 Recently released CCTV footage shows several dangerous incidents involving both motorists and pedestrians over the last twelve months. Keolis Downer Hunter General Manager, Emmanuel Genlot, expressed concern, stating, “The vision is worrying and is reminding the community to take light rail safety seriously.” 🚋 Tram driver Peter Samdell highlighted the need for increased awareness: “The community needs to become more aware of their surroundings around light rail. Light rail vehicles are huge, weighing fifty tonnes, so once you get going, it can be hard to stop. While our tram drivers use every possible safety measure to avoid a collision, at the end of the day, we need the community to play its part.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/g2m46t_b #RailSafetyWeek #StaySafe #NewcastleTransport #KeolisDowner #LightRailSafety

THINK LIKE A PASSENGER | Following the successful trial on tram route 96, our team at Yarra Trams, has expanded NaviLens accessibility codes across the network to all Melbourne trams and stops - an accessibility game-changer for those who are blind or have low vision. In May, over 10,000 bright NaviLens codes were installed on board Melbourne’s 504 trams and across more than 1,600 tram stops, seamlessly integrating into Yarra Trams’ Operations Centre and feeding live and accurate tram tracking information into the app. The accessibility aid is going from strength to strength. In June, we had almost 8,000 scans with more than 250 scans a day across the network. The team’s introduction of this initiative is consistent with our ‘Think Like A Passenger’ philosophy and commitment to improving the accessibility of the network for all members of our community. #Accessibility #PublicTransport #Innovation #YarraTrams #KeolisDowner #Inclusion #ProudOperator #ThinkLikeAPassenger
