It's uplifting to see Kessler Scholars from Cornell University and Syracuse University unite for a memorable cross-campus retreat in the mountains of upstate New York!! The Kessler Scholars Collaborative connects first-generation students across 16 partner institutions, and we are committed to leveraging our national reach to build students’ networks and expand their sense of possibility. We also are always up for karaoke and campfires! A big thank you to Carlota Deseda-Coon, Lourdes Morales, Shannon Musgrove, and Dannemart Pierre for making this retreat an outstanding success! #firstgenfirst Check out this thoughtful capture of the activities from Syracuse Kessler Scholar Chrissy James:
Last weekend, myself along with the Kessler Scholars Collaborative cohorts from Syracuse and Cornell’s campuses enjoyed a lovely weekend at Greek Peak for our annual retreat. It was a wonderful experience learning about financial literacy, honing in on our academic and personal capabilities, and about navigating the college environment. As a first-year first generation student, the Kessler Scholars Program has been an incredible resource for me, continuing to promote and support my success as a student and human being. This retreat was a great get-away for me to become closer with many of the scholars at Syracuse and also get to know other scholars from Cornell. I want to thank the coordinators for organizing this trip, especially Carlota Deseda-Coon and Lourdes Morales for continuing to give us scholars enlightening experiences. I am grateful and proud to be a Kessler Scholar, as the title honors my resilience as a student and my commitment to striving for excellence and knowledge.🍊
