Unpopular opinion on this #SocialSaturday Veterans/Military/Military Families, you gotta do the work when you transition from the military. No one is going to hold your hand and say put your boots on, wear a tie. You don't have an S-1 reminding you to fill out your #SGLI or GySgt Holiday telling you what the PT uniform of the day (Heartbreak Ridge). Now, you are not alone in this journey of separation/retirement transition, but you have to put in the work. Research where you are going to settle down after you leave the military. You may want to go back to your hometown, where you just retired/ separated, or to a completely new location. This is especially important when looking for housing, public schools, and a new career. If you are not networking in your next location, you're kind of behind the 8 ball. As one of my #GovCon Mentors says, people need to like you and trust you before they do business with you (Neil McConnel). Don't wait 6 months before you get out and expect positive results. Plan the exit well in advance. I had a 24-18 month window with a checklist etc, and I still didn't land my first job without tapping into my network. The network I have known for a long time. Just applying on LinkedIn, Indeed, Earn Better etc does not have teeth unless it comes with a positive referral. Don't get me wrong; I see positive stories about candidates getting jobs without any networking. But you need to peel back the onion on the candidate process. How many rejection notices, no callbacks, and interviews did they receive before moving into the offer stage? 1...2...3 How Many licks to the center of Tootsie Roll Lollypop... The world may never know. You need to conduct a thorough forensic study on that one candidate's story. The best place to find a new job is when you already have a job. There is a difference between a job and a career. Job: driving #Doordash, Career : applying to Doordash as the customer service account manager. Strongly considering looking for this role 😀 😂 But there is a catch phrase out there that says "own the process/journey". My high school track/cross country coach used to say "run your own race at your pace" Okay, it's Social Saturday. How can you help #veterans and military families with the transition? Please provide resources job opportunities, open your network in the comments section, and tag your favorite veteran and military family member (I am trying to see something) Congratulations @Matthew Askren and Quateka Bolden, M.Ed., on your big wedding day. Peace, Tranquility, Blessings, and many laughs ahead. I know my video cycle is one day behind, lol. Don't make me do extra pushups, Kevin, Jonaed, Jahmaal, Clark, Adam, Alex Mims, Alex Belov, and Ben Mena 🤣 😂 😅

  • Join in the conversation to change the narrative. Partner with Help Our Heroes and ZeroMils and push back against the stereotype that veterans are broken. As a veteran owned and operated company we stand up against this misguided narrative. Donate and make real change

Co-Founder and CEO of ZeroMils - Social Impact Consulting Firm - Our Mission is to Create #MilitaryThriving Cultures and Communities

Over the past two years ZeroMils and our partners have been on a #mission to create Military Thriving cultures and communities. Our vision to create a #MilitaryThriving movement flies in the face of growing trends in the media and many national nonprofits that have shaped a narrative that Veterans are “broken.” This constant drumbeat has led to bad outcomes for military recruitment and we’re taking actions to help change that in measurable ways. According to reports from DOD in 2023, propensity to serve sits at all time lows of 9%, and 62% of young people believe #Veterans have a psychological disorder. These data have been backed up —again and again — by the most reputable and well known research institutions in the country. Having read these reports over the past 18 months, they reinforce the work we are doing to #change the narrative. But don’t take my word for it, read this survey by RAND entitled “What Americans Think About Veterans and Military Service” and their findings from a nationally representative survey from December 2023 in comments below ⬇️. One key finding: 🔶 A majority of Americans (54.4 percent) would discourage a young person close to them from enlisting in the #military. Enough is enough. Let’s change the narrative. Let’s change how Veterans are seen and heard. We are #Veterans. We served. And we are #thriving. Join our #MilitaryThriving movement!

What is the timeless debate that never gets old? In the #chicken or the egg scenario, which came first? Today's daily walk with Daisy ponders a similar question: Discipline vs Organization. Cue the dramatic squirrel music...(If you don't remember that meme/vine, please use the free internet to discover) Which comes first, #Discipline or Organization? Are the two equal? Can they coexist without producing a cataclysmic nuclear event? More dramatic squirrel 🤣 😋 You need discipline to become organized, and you need #organization to become disciplined. How do you approach this age-old "Wicked Problem" (Best Bostonian Accent)? Now I know how to approach problems more Cow Bell or more jobs: ########################################################## Open Roles T/S SCI Full Scope Poly Clearance With NSA Location: Fort Meade, MD (onsite) 1. On this #socialsaturday #networking day remember, like a good pair of jeans not all sizes are created equal. Jobs are like jeans, not everyone is going to fit in the same pair of jeans or job descriptions. What you can do is pass the opportunity on. The salary range is not for you pass it to the next one. The location is not your desired location pass the job to friend. Wow that job looks great “I should phone a friend” Who wants to be a millionaire reference. As I have said before I believe in the power of community. Some online community events today and next week: VETS2INDUSTRY has a networking event today. MilCruit has virtual healthcare fair next week ACT Now Education always has something going on. Check out North Carolina for Military Employment (NC4ME) , Whole Vet , Stop Soldier Suicide and Help Our Heroes for resources, employment opportunities and sucide prevention. How can you serve the community today? And like always open jobs are in the comments #community

#Superman had his soft spots and wasn’t’ just Kryptonite it was those he cared about his parents and Loris Lane….. #GoodMorning, #Thursdayvibes, I was offline for a few days networking and conducting official business in #WashingtonDC this week. I want to Shout out to Gerry Griffen, Drew Harris, and Taylor Smith, who made time to meet up, laugh, eat, and fellowship. Thanks for the conversations and tomfoolery. A Huge Shoutout to @Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment, Commanding Officer Colonel Morina Foster.. Ma’am “Mo” wow it seems like yesterday we had do that IG inspection when Colonel (Ret) James Riely was deployed fun times LOL. Your entire organization, from the SgtMajor on down to Mr. Carlos Melendez, Lisa M Fleek, Adriana B Pelaez, and other supporting staff, did an outstanding job of catering to the Wounded Warriors, Active Duty, Families and Veterans in the Quantico/North Virginia Area. I know lives will be changed, and new careers will be ahead. Thanks for inviting me to network, speak, and mentor Marines/Veterans and Family Members (My Kryptonite) LOL. You know me too well. More Shoutouts are in order Raphael (Ralph) Hernandez, Lisa Di Maso, Stan Kurtz, Erik Doye, Kristopher Rick, Patrick Foreman, and Marc Eden. I learned so much from everyone, and I see the opportunities are endless with a little elbow grease and the right attitude. Lesson learned: you can’t control situations, but you can control your reaction to the problem. Believe in yourself and have positive attitude. It’s Thursday let’s goooooooooooo
