  • We love being in the heart of downtown. Our student and staff volunteers had a blast during Open Streets ICT!   The courtyard was full of children chalking up the sidewalks surrounding our booths. Student clubs organized activities to engage community members, offering card-making activities for children in hospitals, CPR demonstrations, and blood pressure checks.

We're proud to be a part of The Community Solution Education System. Together, as a nonprofit system of colleges and universities we work collaboratively to transform the lives of students. Together, with his wife Jeannie Gutierrez, Ph.D., Michael Horowitz, Ph.D., chancellor for the System, created a #scholarship designed to support #first generation college students. Recently, Dr. Horowitz had the privilege of meeting student doctor, Alex Palacios, an honored recipient of the scholarship he created. Alex shared, “As a first-generation student and the oldest daughter to Peruvian immigrants, I have had my fair share of shortcomings financially within this path to medicine. I am truly grateful for the impact this scholarship has had … allowing me to be fully invested in my studies.” Thank you to Drs. Horowitz and Gutierrez for your support of the next generation of those who will change the world. To learn more about giving opportunities, including scholarships, visit: https://ow.ly/iq7O50TJk6k

  • Our second-annual Culture Fest was a huge success! Thank you to the World Champion Wichita War Dancer, Raices De Mi Tierra Ballet Folklorico, and to our student performers for their rich displays of the diversity that makes our medical school community strong. The evening included food trucks, art, music, and education that offered a chance for KHSU student doctors and for local community members to experience a variety of cultural traditions. The festival reflects our commitment to cultural competency and to recruiting future physicians who bring compassion and empathy to underserved communities.

  • Congratulations to the Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine student doctors who were made military officers today at their Commissioning Ceremony. They are three new recipients of the Health Professions Scholarship Program, which provides tuition coverage. They joined 15 other student doctors also receiving HPSP at our school.   Scholarships allow student doctors to pursue specialties and locations where they are most needed, without financial pressures guiding their choices. We’re honored to be part of their journey, empowering them to serve with purpose and impact.
