Congratulations to Chante Edwards, CNA, for being recognized as a 2024 Monarch Caring and Community Award recipient by ScionHealth earlier this month! Chante treats her patients at Kindred Hospital Northland like they are her own family members. She performs the typical tasks of a nursing assistant – such as taking patients’ vitals, feeding and bathing them, and turning them in bed – with a singular focus on making their care as comfortable as possible. She takes the extra time needed to make her patients feel safe and looked after, the first step in helping them reach their highest level of recovery. Thank you, Chante, for being an exemplary caregiver and teammate.

Congratulations to Kindred Hospital El Paso CEO, America Jones, RN, BSN,MSN, MNSM on recently being named to Becker's Healthcare's 2024 list of Hispanic and Latino Healthcare Leaders to Know. America is an El Paso native who has served as CEO since 2017. She is also the founding Chair of ScionHealth's Hispanic and Latino Employee Resource Group, UNIDOS.

Today marks Indigenous Peoples’ Day – a day to honor the Indigenous peoples who have lived in this country for millennia – long before the establishment of the United States or the colonization of the Americas – and to celebrate their contributions and culture. We are proud to recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day as an occasion to honor and thank all those on our team who identify as Indigenous people or Native Americans and to celebrate the important role our health system plays in supporting Indigenous and Native American patients. We are grateful for all those patients who entrust us with their care.

We culminated our annual Caregiver Summit in Louisville with the presentation of the ScionHealth Monarch Caring and Community Award, the highest honor we bestow upon our caregivers. Congratulations to our two 2024 recipients, Chante Edwards, a nursing assistant at Kindred Hospital Northland (Kansas City, Missouri) and Christine Kelsey, a medsurg nurse at Watertown (Wisconsin) Regional Medical Center. Chante and Christine joined award nominees from our other 90 community and specialty hospitals who were invited to the informational event and celebration held October 2 and 3.
