After a challenging election season, embracing gratitude can help restore peace and foster community. Here's how you can incorporate a simple gratitude practice into your daily life:      Reflect Each Morning or Evening         What three things are you grateful for today?      Write It Down         Have you written in your gratitude journal today?      Share with Others         Who will you share your gratitude with today?      Reflect on Challenges         What lessons are you grateful for from challenges?      Make It a Routine         How will you incorporate gratitude into your daily routine? Each step encourages a small action.  That leads to building a stronger, more resilient spirit, fostering positivity amid post-election recovery. #kinetictalent #community #humandevelopers #postelection

Packing Our Bags for Thailand! 🌏✈️ Hey everyone! We're super excited because in just a few days, we'll be jetting off to Thailand for three whole weeks! Travel is a big hobby for us—it's our way of jumping headfirst into new experiences and soaking up every bit of learning we can. Here’s why we absolutely love exploring new places: 1. Embracing Diversity: Getting to see how different yet similar we all are is truly eye-opening. Thailand is our next unexplored place, and we can't wait to appreciate its vibrant streets, chill out in serene temples, and just celebrate life’s diverse moments there. 2. Learning On the Go: Our trip is going to be one massive, real-life classroom. Think spicy street food, hearing new languages, and meeting all sorts of wildlife (can’t wait to meet some elephants!). Every new place teaches us something amazing. 3. Adventures Galore: Being out of our comfort zone is kind of thrilling. From hiking through gorgeous landscapes to figuring out local maps and hanging with locals, every bit of it helps us grow a bit more. Traveling together also means making those unforgettable memories that stick with us forever. It’s about sharing those “wow, did that just happen?” moments and having each other’s back when things go a bit sideways. We're buzzing with excitement and really can’t wait to share all the stories and pictures with you. As Asheville begins the journey of healing from the impacts of Hurricane Helene, the strength and unity of our community have never been more evident. In these challenging times, it's crucial to come together, support each other, and find ways to manage the emotional aftermath of such events. Saturday, November 2 at 11:00 AM, Steve and I are honored to host a workshop at Beer City Crossfit, located at 70 Westside Drive. We'll focus on understanding our emotions, unraveling the stories we create around them, and learning somatic practices to help us regulate and recover as we process the recent losses to our community and families. Here’s what we’ll explore: - Understanding Emotions: Recognizing what we feel and why. - Narratives and Emotions: How the stories we tell ourselves affect our emotional health. - Somatic Practices: Simple, effective techniques to help maintain emotional balance. This workshop is our way of giving back to the community that has given us so much. If you’re in the area and looking for support or ways to manage your feelings during this time, please join us. Together, we can start to heal and rebuild. #AshevilleStrong #CommunitySupport #EmotionalWellness #KineticTalent #beercitycrossfit

Today, Joanne and I are thrilled that we are celebrating 35 years of marriage—a journey that's taught us a lot about teamwork, communication, collaboration and laughter, the very skills that fuel our business at Kinetic Talent. We've learned to mix our strengths in ways that not only bolster our relationship but also enhance what we bring to the table professionally. We weave these insights into every training and coaching session, guided by the belief that the foundations of a strong partnership—like respect and mutual support—are vital in effective leadership. Reflecting on our 35 years together, we see how every challenge has been a chance to grow, both at home and in our work. If you're looking to boost your team's dynamics or leadership skills, we'd love to help. Here's to more growth, learning, and success in marriage, life, and business! #LeadershipDevelopment #Teamwork #MarriageAnniversary #KineticTalent

Effective communication isn’t just about what we say, but also how well we listen. True understanding requires more than just hearing words—it involves actively engaging with and reflecting on the message being communicated. Here are key techniques to enhance your listening skills: Reflective Listening Engage actively by reflecting the speaker's message back to them. This not only shows that you are paying attention but also helps clarify and affirm what was said. Try using phrases like: "So, what you're saying is..." "It sounds like you feel..." Mirroring & Paraphrasing Mirroring involves repeating key phrases or sentiments back to the speaker, while paraphrasing involves rewording their message in your own words to show that you've understood. Both techniques ensure that no detail is lost or misinterpreted. Two Key Questions to Gain Clarity: "Can you help me understand what led you to this conclusion?" This question encourages deeper insight into the speaker's thought process and helps bridge any gaps in communication. "Do we agree that the main point is...? Is there anything important that I might be missing?" This prompts both parties to clarify the core message and confirm mutual understanding, ensuring that everyone is on the same page. By incorporating these practices into your daily interactions, you can transform simple exchanges into meaningful dialogues. Listening for understanding isn’t just about resolving conflicts or enhancing workplace communication; it’s about building relationships that are rooted in mutual respect and genuine connection. Join the conversation: How has active listening changed your communication style? Imagine a typical family gathering: the conversation turns to a hot-button issue and suddenly, two relatives are not just disagreeing—they're escalating. Voices rise, bodies tighten for action, words go ballistic, and the room's tension makes everyone else take a step back. It's clear that the conflict has taken on a life of its own, shutting down any chance for meaningful exchange, mutual understanding, or respect. Buzzkill for the entire group!  But what if this energy could be redirected positively? At Kinetic Talent, we specialize in transforming such moments of high conflict into opportunities for growth and collaboration. Active Listening & Reflective Looping: Our training emphasizes skills like active listening and reflective listening (looping), ensuring that all perspectives are not only heard but truly understood. These techniques help prevent conflicts from escalating beyond control. Non-Confrontational Communication: We teach how to express your viewpoints in ways that foster dialogue rather than division. By using non-confrontational language, our clients learn to navigate tough conversations without sparking defensiveness. In the Workplace: Imagine a workplace where every conflict is a pathway to better solutions and stronger teamwork. Through our training, effective conflict management becomes a habit, enriching decisions with diverse viewpoints. At Home: Our Leadership Presence training goes beyond the office. It includes self-regulating somatic practices that smooth out and strengthen personal relationships, essential for handling sensitive discussions like those around the dinner table. A Universal Need for Human Development: The skills Kinetic Talent provides are crucial for developing the kind of human presence our civilization needs to not just survive, but regain civility and social connection. We equip you with the tools to manage and transform conflicts, wherever they arise, into collaborative dialogues. Make a point to join our next Kinetic Talent workshop to master the art of turning conflicts into opportunities. Because when we listen better, we live better. #humanresources #humandevelopers #conflictmanagement #kinetictalent

Embracing New Horizons: The Unexpected Joys of Our Son’s Global Adventure Our son Jonathan, now 31, has returned from an uncommon  journey, traveling the world through hitchhiking and couch surfing for over 16 months. As parents, watching him embrace such a bold adventure beyond anything we'd dare attempt ourselves has been both awe-inspiring and enlightening. It’s easy to fall into the trap of projecting our own fears, beliefs, and hopes onto our children. However, we’ve always believed that as adults, they deserve the freedom to make their own choices. This conviction has transformed us into listeners, watchers, and supporters, which in turn has brought incredible benefits to us, as we see exceptional transformation in Jonathan’s life. Through his eyes, we vicariously experience a world of diverse cultures, face risks we'd never dream of taking, and meet people from walks of life far different from our own. Each story he shares adds layers to our understanding and appreciation of the world - and how to move through it. And what a gift!  We witness Jonathan’s evolution into a more expansive human being. Seeing the growth and joy these experiences have brought him has inspired us to expand our own horizons in different ways. While hitchhiking and couch surfing may never be our cup of tea, we find ourselves more open to new experiences, ideas, and changes that life offers. This journey has taught us a valuable lesson: when we support our loved ones and clients in their adventures—no matter how daunting—they aren’t the only ones who grow. The overflow from their life-expanding experiences enriches us too, pushing us to grow alongside them. As we continue to watch Jonathan’s journey unfold, we invite you to reflect on your own experiences. How have the adventures of those close to you inspired changes in your own life? Let’s celebrate the extraordinary growth that comes from embracing the unknown, both for our loved ones and for ourselves. #GrowthMindset #Adventure #GlobalTravel #LifeLessons #Kinetictalent #humanresourcemanagement #humandevelopers #parenting
