KGCS recognizes the hard work and dedication of staff members each month through the Shout Out program. This month we recognize Holli Sheddan, teacher at King George Middle! Kortney Mason nominated Mrs. Sheddan with this message: I would love to nominate Mrs. Holli Sheddan, an exceptional 6th-grade art teacher! Mrs. Sheddan has redefined the 6th grade art program with her innovative and inclusive approach to teaching art. She turned her classroom into a sensory-friendly art studio where every student feels welcomed and valued. From diamond art to crochet, students are given every opportunity to express themselves creatively thanks to the amazing art supplies she provides for them. In her free time, Mrs. Sheddan transformed the KGMS showcases and hallways with vibrant displays of student (and staff) art. The staff team-building KGMS Fox art activity she designed now decorates the KGMS cafeteria. Mrs. Sheddan is an incredible educator with many gifts. Just walk by her classroom when her students are creating to see the magic! 🎉Congratulations, Mrs. Sheddan!

Potomac Elementary was nominated for American Heart Association, Eastern Region “Heart-Healthy School” Award! This award recognizes a Kids Heart Challenge or American Heart Challenge school that has gone above and beyond to fully implement American Heart Association programs within the entire school. From the American Heart Association: Potomac Elementary has truly embraced the idea of having their Annual Kids Heart Challenge be an ALL-SCHOOL “Celebration” of Health & Wellness every year! They have outstanding administrators, including Principal Dr. Melinda Brown, who shares out all of our information with her students, staff, and families, personally! Their amazing Physical Education Teacher, Mrs. Heather Mims, always finds ways to include all of her students AND her fellow staff! Dr. Melinda Brown, even made a beautiful testimonial video to use and share. In her video she speaks directly to her fellow Principals everywhere sharing WHY she loves American Heart Association and our Kids Heart Challenge program and strongly encourages other Principals to include it in their school year, each year!
