We were proud to join Congresswoman Barbara Lee at a roundtable discussion focused on public safety and incarceration. It was a powerful opportunity to share the work Kingmakers of Oakland is doing to make our communities safer. Collaboration is key in our fight for social justice, and we’re grateful for the chance to connect with other leaders and organizations doing similar work across the East Bay. Kingmakers of Oakland had the honor of attending the 2024 Teaching Black History Conference, hosted by Dr. LaGarrett King and the UB Center for K–12 Black History and Racial Literacy Education. This experience provided our team with critical insights into enhancing our Crowns Curriculum, especially in integrating media literacy and centering joy in Black history education. We’re excited to implement these strategies and continue our mission to transform the educational landscape for Black students. Looking forward to contributing even more at next year’s conference! #Education #BlackHistory #Leadership #KingmakersOfOakland
