Every day, more families face the risk of separation. Children are taken away from their loved ones, growing up in unfamiliar environments. 'Bahati' is one such child. 💔 We're working tirelessly with case workers and our team to address the underlying issues that led to 'Bahati's' separation and facilitate his reintegration. By examining each family's unique circumstances, we can develop tailored solutions to ensure children stay with their families. 🏡 Let's work together to keep families together and break the cycle of separation.

From Institution to Independence. 'Pendo' and 'Furaha' grew up in the care of their ailing grandfather after the loss of their parents. The challenge of juggling between earning a living and pursuing their education, eventually, led to their referral to a children's home. Following the new care reform policy to embrace family and community based care, the sisters were prepared for reintegration. When efforts to locate their grandfather were unsuccessful, they were settled in supported independent living. We were inspired by how the whole community rallied behind the idea and committed to watching over them with close supervision from the children's home and local leadership. 'Pendo' and 'Furaha' are thriving, going to school, making new friends and settling within a community they can call their home. This story highlights the importance of collaboration in the reintegration journey because there is always a way to keep children within their families and communities surrounded by love.

Bringing all our children home is a noble goal, but it's not without its challenges. We need to face these obstacles head-on and strengthen our child care systems to ensure every child receives the support they need. By creating personalized care plans, preparing families and children for reintegration, equipping our professionals, and providing adequate family support, we can build strong families and communities. Together we can work to ensure no child has to ever grow up separated from their family.❤️

Now that we understand the reintegration process, let's explore the alternative care options available: Kinship Care: Family members provide care. Adoption: A permanent family placement. Guardianship: A legal appointment of a guardian. Foster Care: Temporary care provided by a foster family. Child-Headed Households: Children take on parental roles. Kafala: Islamic foster care system. These options ensure children grow in loving homes, form lifelong attachments, and receive personalized care. Which care option are you familiar with?

Visiting the farm at Nakuru Women's Prison and seeing the incredible progress made fills us with joy. Knowing that the little ones and the lactating mothers have access to fresh, nutritious vegetables is truly heartwarming. We're looking forward to the impact it brings to the lives of the children left at home. Incarcerated moms are still mothers and deserve a chance to provide for their children.
