    Happy World Mental Health Day💚 Like our physical health, mental health impacts our lives everyday. The American Psychological Association conducted a survey in 2023 around mental health in the workplace and found these results. - 92% of people said it is very or somewhat important to them to work for an organization that values their emotional and psychological well-being. - 92% said it is very or somewhat important to them to work for an organization that provides support for employee mental health. It also found, - 55% of workers strongly or somewhat agreed that their employer thinks their workplace environment is a lot mentally healthier than it actually is - 43% reported worrying that if they told their employer about a mental health condition, it would have a negative impact on them in the workplace While progress has been made, there is still a lot of work to be done.     When AI took the world by storm, there were many conversations and concerns around it replacing jobs. People published lists of positions they thought were most likely to be replaced, and "recruiter" ended up on many of those lists. Here are four important aspect of the recruiting process that, according to Firefish Software, AI cannot replace - and we agree! 1) Relationship Building - The recruitment process can be overwhelming and intimidating both for hiring managers and candidates. Recruiters work to form relationships and build trust with both parties. When everyone feels at ease, the process is smoother and easier for both sides. 2) Sourcing - Sometimes, recruiters have to get creative with sourcing. While AI may be able to read a position description and run a basic search, recruiters know how to make adjustments to find hidden talent that a basic search would not be able to uncover. 3) Cultural Fit - It is important to make sure the talent brought into an organization not only has the hard skills needed, but aligns culturally as well. Recruiters are able to engage in conversation with both hiring managers and candidates to ensure new talent is a great fit for both the company and the candidate. 4) Negotiation - Knowing what is important to a candidate in their decision making process is crucial. Talking with candidates early in the process about their top priorities to level set expectations and assess for compatibility around multiple factors is something only a human, not AI, can do. There is no doubt that AI and related tools can save time with the administrative side of the process, but securing top talent requires that work of an actual person.     Most people have heard of Unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO) but have you heard of minimum required PTO? Over the last couple of years, several companies have implemented a policy where employees must take a certain amount of time off each year in order to refresh. While it may seem counterintuitive, taking PTO often benefits the employee and in turn, the employer. Taking time away from your desk has a positive influence both physically and mentally, which generally improves quality of work. Over the course of multiple studies, it was found that employees who took PTO were less likely to leave their organization, increased their chances of getting a promotion, and improved performance by up to 8%. PTO is an important factor for many candidates when considering a new opportunity. Like salary, aligning with a candidate on PTO can be difficult to navigate and takes skill to close the deal.     Only July 31, 2024, Massachusetts became the 12th state to enact a pay transparency law. Companies with more than 25 employees must now provide pay ranges on position descriptions as well as provide ranges for an internal transfer or promotion. Other states that have a transparency law include: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, and Washington. While this is not yet a federal requirement, multiple studies have shown that pay transparency helps companies attract top talent. According to a survey done by Adzuna, 54% of candidates declined an offer at the end of the interview process based on salary and 33% would not take a first interview without knowing the salary ahead of time. Hiring talent can be both expensive and time consuming.     In a recently published study, Stanford University economist Nick Bloom found that a hybrid work set-up was a win-win situation for both companies and their employees. The results of the study showed that hybrid employees were as productive as well as equally as likely to be promoted as those who were on-site five days a week. Another win for both side - a 33% decrease in resignations. "Women, non-managers, and employees with long commutes were the least likely to quit their jobs".
