💡Cleanroom environments in laboratories have diverse demands. To enhance efficiency, consider implementing demand control airflow. By continuously monitoring real-time particulate and chemical contaminant levels, you can optimize air changes per hour (ACH) by reducing rates when levels fall below predetermined thresholds. This can be effectively achieved using Krueger Fan Filter Units with EC Motors, which allows you to adjust the EC motor speed, resulting in substantial energy savings. https://ow.ly/UmMv50TLegM #mechanicalengineering #hvac #airdistribution

👉 Air distribution material selection for laboratory applications is critical. Product exposure to various chemicals and contaminants requires proper planning to minimize their corrosion and degradation. See below for a list of common materials with corresponding concerns, costs, and notes. *Information sourced from ASHRAE Application Handbook, Chapter 17. #mechanicalengineering #hvac #airdistribution

Consider using a series fan-powered terminal unit for low temp applications... Benefit: A lower volume of supply air is needed to deliver cooling to the space. This allows for smaller fans (and reduced fan energy), which can offset added chiller expenses. It also allows for smaller ductwork, which can contribute to lower floor-to-floor heights. Challenge: 48-50°F supply air out of a diffuser could cause dumping and poor air distribution. Condensation may form more easily on diffusers and ductwork. Solution: A series fan powered box can be used to blend warmer plenum air with cooler AHU supply air to deliver a reasonable temperature to the space while avoiding dumping. Diffusers like Krueger’s PLQLT with insulated face/louvers/backpan can discourage condensation by reducing the transfer of direct cold energy to metal material that is in contact with warm or humid air.
