Article alert: reaction engineering in biomass valorization requires accurate solubility data. Our interests in polyesters derived from BFDCA led Alvaro Pallais and Samir Fernando Castilla Acevedo to lead our team in characterizing and modeling its solubility. Great job, guys! Submit your abstract in green electrocatalysis by February 17! https://lnkd.in/gdd9j-BQ Prof. Alexandra Zagalskaya and I are organizing a symposium titled Green Electrocatalysis for Sustainable Chemical Production at the ACS Green Chemistry & Engineering Conference in Pittsburg, PA on June 23–26, 2025. Selected applicants will give a 20 minute research presentation. Applicants may be graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, professors, or other professionals in academic, federal, and industrial sectors. The major focus will be on three critical reactions to address the most urgent global challenges: (i) electrolysis of water to hydrogen and oxygen, (ii) conversion of nitrogen-containing compounds into ammonia, and (iii) carbon dioxide conversion into industrial starting materials.

I am pleased to share that my first publication is now available! In this work, we explore the intensification of the two-step pathway to renewable 4,4'-dimethylbiphenyl, providing insights into challenges in process scale-up while making significant advances in the green production of this valuable platform chemical. I am grateful for the support of my advisors Dion Vlachos and Raul Lobo as I completed this project and for the help of our collaborators at the KU Center for Environmentally Beneficial Catalysis (CEBC).
