It's been a banner year for the Center for Service Learning at The University of Kansas! More than 7000 hours of student community service documented on volunteer.ku.edu, a Rock Chalk Recognition Award, and stellar Into the Streets Week participation 🤩 #KUServes
As the 23-24 academic school comes to a conclusion, the CCO is proud to announce that we have reached our goal of logging more than 7,000 volunteer hours on our platform, volunteer.ku.edu! With an official count of 7,037.59 hours logged as of May 8th, we have an estimated impact of $223,795.36 worth of volunteerism based on the average rate of volunteerism in the US set by the Independent Sector. All of our hours have been in support of the Lawrence and broader Douglas County community. We were also lucky enough to receive the Rock Chalk Recognition Award for Outstanding Student Organization alongside our advisor, Kate Kemper, M.S.Ed., who received the Student Organization Advisor Award! In addition, we would like to thank everyone who supported us this year, whether they are a volunteer, an advisor, or a professor who reshared our new Canvas module outlining all of our volunteer needs! In April, we hit a record number of 20,724 ongoing need views on our volunteer platform during our biggest week of service, Into the Streets Week! You all are amazing! We would most of all like to thank our program coordinators for an excellent year of successful and fun events. Included here are pictures of Super Service Saturday, Trunk or Treat, Into the Streets Week, and other program specific events! Thank you!

KU's Student United Way has built some valuable connections this year, including with Student Housing and the United Way of Kaw Valley's Youth Service Coalition! SUW members supported a Hungry for the Holidays Food Drive this fall, which placed bins in campus residence halls to collect food products for Just Food. #KUServes
