Today marks "International Sign language day". There is a continuous need to recognize the State mandate in promoting the development and use of indigenous languages, Kenyan sign language, Braille and other communication formats and technologies accessible to persons with disabilities. This is enshrined in Article 7 of the Kenyan Constitution 2010. Share this widely and let us all push for legislative action in the implementation of this constitutional mandate;- #policyreforms #advocacy #signlanguageday #policy

🌍 Embracing effective waste management strategies in informal settlements is crucial for sustainable development. Recycling and upcycling initiatives are pivotal, not only for waste reuse but also for transforming discarded materials like glass and textiles into valuable assets. Recently, members of the Kwa-Wote Initiative had the privilege of attending an annual event showcasing these innovative practices. These activities are not just about environmental stewardship but also about economic empowerment. The recycling and upcycling sector has created numerous job opportunities, underscoring the potential of proper waste management in fostering community livelihoods. Companies such as Bottle Logistics, Taka Taka Solutions and Africa Collect Textiles Ltd have been at the forefront of recycling and upcycling activities creating employment opportunities for many. At Kwa-Wote, we believe in the adage "Waste is Gold." Our mission is to empower communities with responsible waste disposal practices, allowing them to earn from their efforts while ensuring a cleaner environment for all. Join us in spreading awareness and championing sustainable waste management practices in our communities.
