An ✨enormous✨ thank you to each of the 400+ guests who joined us at La Casa Norte’s 22nd annual Gala ¡Esperanza! last Friday. Your support strengthens our mission every day. We are especially grateful to Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton, whose keynote addresses lit up the night. Their inclusive leadership and commitment to justice give us renewed hope for a Chicago where everyone can thrive. As Governor Pritzker so eloquently remarked, "We are building a city and a state where all of our people can live a life with dignity and opportunity, where families will have what they need to flourish, and where everyone has a place to call home." Stay tuned for more event photos and highlights in the days ahead! #LaCasaNorte #GalaEsperanza #GalaEsperanza2024 #EndHomelessness #MoreThanHousing #Community #Chicago

We’d like to take a moment to express our gratitude to CEO Jose M. Muñoz for sharing his own experience with homelessness as part of WTTW/Chicago PBS' impactful series, "Firsthand Talks: The Power of Housing." Jose’s journey reminds us why the work we do at La Casa Norte is so critical: to ensure no one faces homelessness alone. #LaCasaNorte #WTTW #MoreThanHousing #EndHomelessness #Chicago #FirsthandTalks
I recently had the honor of sharing my story on WTTW/Chicago PBS's Firsthand Talks, as part of a series that explored the intersection of homelessness and the migrant experience. Reflecting on my journey was an emotional and humbling opportunity, bringing back memories of the challenges my family and I faced growing up. It reminded me of the strength and resilience it takes to overcome such adversity, but also the incredible impact that a safe and stable home can have. Every time I tell my story, I’m reminded of why I’m so passionate about the work we do at La Casa Norte and how critical it is to ensure that no one, especially our youth, has to face the uncertainty of not knowing where they’ll sleep at night. I hope you consider watching it. #ThePowerOfHousing #YouthEmpowerment #EndHomelessness #ChicagoNonprofits #HousingForAll

We’ve been sitting on some big news! We’re very excited to share that La Casa Norte has been selected to receive city funding to establish a non-congregate shelter in Humboldt Park for youth ages 18-24 experiencing homelessness. This project comes at a critical time, with an estimated 15,000 youth under the age of 24 currently experiencing homelessness in Chicago. Said Mayor Brandon Johnson, “This investment in non-congregate shelters will give individuals the stability and care they need to transition to permanent housing. By working alongside community partners like La Casa Norte, we are building a future where every Chicagoan has a safe place to call home.” The innovative shelter will feature 43 private studios, each with an en suite bathroom, in addition to a youth drop-in center, community café, therapeutic space, computer lab, and a growing roster of holistic supportive services. To learn more, download the full press release at https://lnkd.in/gyVi4e8B. As we celebrate this milestone, we invite our community to help us go further. With your support, we can ensure even more unhoused youth receive the care and resources they need to thrive.
