  • Here’s a tip for thriving in a retirement community: If you’re facing a challenge—whether it’s related to retirement, health, social life, or family—don’t hesitate to share it with your neighbors. Many retirees at La Posada have been through similar situations and can offer valuable solutions. One resident aptly called La Posada the “mothership of kindness” because of the genuine care our residents have for helping each other and the staff. #truth #seniorlivingcommunity #culture #retired

  • When was the last time you paused to discover if you have a hidden talent for something you've never tried before? In July, La Posada residents gathered for a vibrant paint-and-sip party that brought out their creative sides in a lively and joyful atmosphere. With paintbrushes in hand and glasses of wine or juice close by, they encouraged each other to explore their artistic abilities and uncover talents they might not have known existed. The room buzzed with laughter and smiles as neighbors bonded over this shared experience, building deeper connections and enjoying quality time together. As Phthalo Blue and Tierra Rosa hues swept across canvases, residents took a break from their daily routines to share creative tips, admire each other's work, and celebrate the unique expressions of everyone's artistic flair. This event was more than just a painting session—it was a chance to strengthen friendships, forge new connections, and revel in a shared experience that sparked creativity and joy. By the end of the evening, everyone left with a beautiful piece of art and cherished memories of a wonderful time spent together. #seniorlivingcommunity #art #creativity

  • "I am sorry I didn't do this sooner." That is what we often hear from off-campus residents moving into La Posada Assisted Living neighborhoods. In August, La Posada hosted an Assisted Living Open House. Green Valley—Sahuarita community members came to ask La Posada residents and nursing staff questions about living in the La Joya and La Via neighborhoods. After a delicious culinary spread, future residents took tours of different studio apartments. What did perspective residents learn from the Assisted Living Open House? - The La Joya assisted living apartments look much like the La Posada independent apartments, offering several models to meet particular needs and lovely inside and outside common areas where residents can meet their neighbors and do activities of their choosing, such as card games, puzzles, etc. - The La Joya dining room seats 60 people and offers different menu options not found in independent living dining rooms. - La Joya residents don't have to travel to the campus fitness pavilion and other buildings for fitness and lifestyle activities. They can stay in their neighborhood and attend activities planned by a full-time assisted living activities coordinator, meeting physical, social, and mental needs. - La Joya residents are offered 40-plus exercises, games, and special events such as a Luau, Christmas, Easter, and Valentine's Day parties, La Posada Anniversary and Birthday luncheons, and off-campus outings. - Housekeeping, the La Joya library, on-campus transportation, and tricycles are available to assisted living residents - Assisted living residents actively participate in the La Posada resident's council and community volunteerism. If you want to make a reservation to set up an Assisted Living private tour and ask your questions to our care team, dial 520-648-8400. #seniorlivingcommunity #events #assistedliving

  • At La Posada Adult Day Services, excitement was in the air as participants gathered to celebrate the upcoming Olympics with friendly competitions. This week was infused with Olympic flair and enthusiastic cheers from other participants and staff. The festivities started with iced tea pong, where participants aimed to toss ping pong balls into plastic cups. Laughter and encouragement flowed as everyone took turns, celebrating each successful throw and sharing in the delight of the near-misses. This refreshing twist on a classic game brought smiles and energy of proud accomplishments. Next, the Long Distance Ring Toss had participants aiming to land their rings further than their opponents. The game highlighted the participants' skills and added a layer of excitement to the Olympic festivities, reinforcing the joy of friendly competition and shared victories. The Speed Potato Peeling contest brought out both laughter and skill as participants raced to peel as many potatoes as possible within a time limit. Finally, the Build the Tower game tested everyone's patience and dexterity as participants stacked plastic cups higher and higher. At the event's end, the tension and excitement grew with each added piece; even the toppled towers brought laughter and encouragement. By the end of the week, Adult Day Services participants celebrated the upcoming Olympics and strengthened their friendly bonds through joy, laughter, and friendly competition. Medals were awarded for participation, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship, ensuring everyone won the gold. #olympics #seniorlivingcommunity #games

  • Supporting a Great Race and Giving Back to the Community! On Monday, La Posada CEO Joni Condit received a personalized thank you from El Tour De Tucson. Local cyclists from the Green Valley Recreation (GVR) Cycling Club and the Posada Pedalers, our resident cycling club, recognized La Posada's ongoing support for aid station number seven. GVR Cycling Club President Joanie Rogucki and La Posada resident cyclist Hank Deutsch, both avid cyclists and volunteers, presented this appreciation award. During the November 2022 El Tour de Tucson cycling competition, the Posada Pedalers volunteered with members of the GVR Cycling Club to operate aid station number seven outside the main gate of La Posada. Aid stations are crucial during this 102-mile race, providing racers with medical assistance, hydration, food, and mechanical support. Like many sporting events in the United States, cycling races like the El Tour rely heavily on volunteers and corporate support. In both the 2022 and 2023 races, Condit, a dedicated cyclist and past participant in El Tour races, learned that resident cyclists planned to volunteer at the aid station. She offered La Posada resources such as tents, chairs, and water to simplify the race's logistics for all local volunteers, residents, and riders. #cycling #seniorlivingcommunity #volunteering #notforprofit

  • Out where the horizon kisses the sun, Under the vast and heavenly skies, Come gather 'round, folks, one by one, For a summer serenade that mystifies. In the heart of the desert, sands aglow, As the cacti silhouette against the dusk, A stage is set where the warm winds blow, Where music meets the twilight's musk. Cowboys, cowgirls, gather near, To the strum of guitars by the fire's light, Songs of the wild frontier, Sung under the stars so bright. Join us where the wildflowers hide, On a night that’s set to outshine, With melodies that ride On the breeze, like a sweet ol’ moonshine. So wear your boots and tip your hat, To a concert like never before, In the desert, where the heart is at, Where music and soul explore. This summer, let your spirits soar, At the concert where echoes blend, Where every note, and every chord, Brings the desert to life, as legends intend. - AIda The Summer Concerts in the Shoppes at La Posada begins Friday, August 23! This year, this six-week concert series benefits the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona and Hands Of A Friend. Donations are accepted at these concerts to support these two outstanding community resources. Free admission. #livemusic #events #seniorlivingcommunity #sahuarita
